MERTON would never have written anything so cogent as the quote above. And he didn't need a joke about surrealism in his sig. The dude is/was surrealism!

He'll be back when the time is right. Obviously, the time is not yet right.

New and fresher ways of bamboozling and confounding the Bike Forums masses are probably at this moment simmering on his stove of intellectual wonderment. Tasty they shall be!

For those who know not of the misunderstood genius of MERTON, he was beloved enough to warrant an Appreciation Thread (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=218724&highlight=cowboy+bebop) and at least 17 unsolicited Foo threads (http://www.bikeforums.net/search.php?searchid=2981607) alone with his name in the subject line.

Hope you are lurking around out there, MERTON, and keeping those grades up at UTD.

I can't respond now. I am trying to figure out how to make a Hydrogen fuel cell out of some stuff i picked up at Home Depot. How come my electric bill is so high? Does anyone know how to fix my deraileur? I took it to every bike shop and they all tried to rip me off and they are all ignorant and I am not sure what I did to make it not work?

Seriously man. You gotta take that bike to a shop that has a completely smell and soundproof fix-it shop so they are not distracted by the changes Cartoon Network is making to the time that Cowboy Bebop starts or by the magnificent odors wafting from the crockpot slow cooker in the kitchen of the apartment next door.

I think the loss of MERTON could be compared to a VERY successful hemorrhoid operation.

An even greater gain was the loss of the former evil moderator. (named after a hot black beverage) I remember there was a time where MERTON was just completely lighting up the mechanic's forum with incredibly asinine questions and comments. I'm talking outrageously stupid stuff.

I was getting irritated by it and decided to start a thread that asked if anyone would take their bike into a shop called MERTON's Bike Shop. He immediately went bi-polar and posted a bunch of expletives and crap at me. I believe he told be to suck his *&%#, among other things.

The Moderator's (made with black beans) response was astounding. She did nothing to MERTON and instead made a sticky warning us to quit picking on him. That was the most screwed up verdict since the OJ Trial.

That can't be Merton on mtbr.com. The poster uses capital letters and punctuation and crap and stuff.

I think you'll find a lot of posters here that would have stood up for MERTON. He was sort of a BF mascot. Some here made fun of him, but most thought he had quite an endearing quality.

If I recall, Koffee came down on you because you started a thread that deliberately belittled another poster. I think you can get over it now.

Someone had posted a big compilation of Merton's greatest-hits posts. Can't seem to find it. It was even organized into categories like clueless-mechanic, I'm so poor, what should I do with my life, etc... Anyone know where I can find that list? People started bumping his years-old posts after that... :(

I have never met the young man, but responded to many of his posts.

I think my personal favorite was when his room mates locked in in then locked him out of the bathroom.

Maybe one other person could make me laugh so hard.:roflmao:
