Reading some of the threads in Foo make me wonder if the person is giving the truth or just fibbing???

What do you think?? Is it MUD(Made up Drama) or Fact?? Are you the kind of person that takes things at face value??

My guess is that most are fact with HEAVY EXAGGERATION.

This of course leads me to try and think of which thread you are referring. I have an idea but won't make statements relating directly to it. My answer is-----------> Yes I think there are some people making up some crap.

But I really don't care. This is all sorta fantasy to me. ;)

BTW, I'm predicting this thread gets.

a. Very long and off topic.

b. Very heated.

c. Shut down

d. All of the above.

Don't confuse "truth" with "fact."

Truth is perception.

Fact is.

My perception is that we claim to put too much stock in "truth" when "truth" is different for everyone. We love to turn a blind eye to "facts" that are in front of us because they do not sustain the "truths" in which we believe.

I think this will get long and off the topic. :) That just seems to be the theme of my threads. :)

I think some threads are made up, absolutly...
as the feelings that should be attached to some of the statements made are totally missing.
But it's OK with me, I find it entertaining at times to see if people picked up on it or just respond to play along or just blindly believe everything on here :)

What? You mean people aren't completely honest on the internet?

Oh well, I don't have time for this bull****. I have to go wrestle a polar bear at 10:00. Then it's off to break in a few new recruits for my harem.

I could very well be. But where does it end? Am I the only manifestation of your imagination? What about yourself? Are you imagining you, or is someone else?

Oh, and could you imagine me about 15 million dollars, please? I need to buy a new yacht.

jsharr
11-06-06, 08:44 AM
Why do you need a yatch? The world is flat and you will just sail off the edge. BTW, In my reality, you are dressed like the admiral from The Village People and have a giant red aircraft carrier.

I guess I should have been more specific. I need a space yacht. As cool as my rocket sled is, it's just too cramped when I need to travel with my harem/bodyguards. Oh, and now that you mention it, I'm getting kinda tired of being the admiral. Can you imagine me as the indian for a while? And maybe with a flying robot horse or something cool like that?

I don't know what a yatch is but most nouns that i know that end in 'atch' have a dirty connotation.

My take is that most threads here are not to be taken too seriously, for I feel that this is mainly a forum to chat, share ideas and of couse, discuss bikes.

I have put in my share of fun threads and also my share of honest questions, like the one about my friend's death. Talking to another BFer that night, I was told that they would not interfere with another's decision to commit suicide and that really got me to thinking about the fear of dying.

Sometimes others come on here because they feel they cannot talk to those closest to them and having the internet to hide behind has given them a chance to open up their true feelings. Like issues the young ones cannot go to their parents for.

Then there are those who seek affirmation and feel they can get it here.

The only thing that concerns me is that there was once a poster whose discussions were very negative. He talked about the afflictions regarding the diseases his kids were born with, how his wife had left him and that he was sick of life. One of his last posts was about leaving this world. He had never posted since.

I think the internet is a worldwide hallucination and that in fact, we are all tripping on LSD right now and actually communicating via brainwaves man.

I think everyone has seen things that left them wondering! specially in the road forums when everyone avareges 32 miles an hour but me!

I just wanted to understand. Thats pretty much the only dramatic thread on the first page of foo right now. Glen's thread was fairly dramatic for a while, but now its just gotten silly.

I think there are some instances where things have been made up. But mostly I think that the serious stuff posted is real, even if the truth is stretched a wee bit. For the most part...the foosters are an honest bunch as online friends go.

We do have a few bad eggs stop by from time to time though. It is the internet though..so you have to take some things posted with a grain of salt.

I'm making a generalization when I started this thread. Yes there are a few threads on the first page that just raised an eyebrow.

I haven't even read that thread you are speaking of.

+1.

There was a guy on the mtn bike forum that I totally believed. I even gave him kudos for the things he's done. Then another person posted a bunch of lies that the first guy got caught on and the first guy posted personal info about the second guy.

Heck I pulled up a chair and the popcorn just to watch.

The thread got pulled but they still go at it here and there calling each other liars.
