ok, maybe you guys can't help me much, but i thought i'd ask for opinions anyway...
i'm buying a new backpack for MTB touring - mostly day tours, a few 2-3 day tours plus my 8-day TransAlp in August.
i currently use a 38liter packpack that is really for hiking or whatever and is toploading which means it often bumps my helmet at the top. plus it's bigger than what i really need. i also have a smaller camelback MULE pack (about 12 liters, not sure)
anyway, i'm pretty sure i am buying a Deuter Transalp pack as i really like the Deuter packs and i think they are really well-designed and also exactly what i need - also so many of my friends arer very happy with them. plus they cost about half as much as say the similar Camelbak "TransAlp" back...
so the question is: do i buy the 25liter or the 30liter?
the packs are identical except the 30l is a little deeper and a fair bit taller (both same width) and both have exactly same pockets and straps and everythign.
the 25 is significantly smaller which is good in general and for my day tours it will be better. for technical rides i think it will be less of a problem b/c it would be less likely to flop around or get caught on brush...
then the 30 weighs hardly anything more but has 5l more of storage for those times when i MIGHT need it.
opinions? the 30 costs $10 more, so the price isn't much of an issue.
i'm leaning towards the 25l with the idea that maybe some days i might have to strap some stuff to the outside. lastly, if i get the 25l should i get Blue or Orange? i actually think i like the Orange, but it would show dirt more and the shop where i get 15% off does not have one in stock so i'd either have to pay the full price or have them order it. if i get the 30l i'll get Blue b/c the dark red i don't like.
