I just bought a new bike since my previous one was stolen. My new bike (a Batavus) came with a suspension in the frame under the seat. It worked fine, but I could actually feel the spring compress and it did so in a not so smooth manner. I could feel a crunchiness as it worked. It didn't make any noise, but it just didn't feel right.

I went back to the bike store and was told to try a bit of grease. I didn't have any grease (he would have done it for me, but I just wanted to know what my options were) and so I tried some oil.

Well, what I think did the trick was simply flipping the spring around. The part of the spring closest to my fanny was the pointed end of the spring. The other end was more open ... can you easily visualize this?

At any rate, just inserting the spring the other way is what I think did the trick. I'm just passing this on if any one else has same minor complaint.
