Hi all!
Realising that I'm only really going to persist with exercise if I enjoy it I decided last year to start cycling again. I put some slicks onto my 7 year old Ridgeback moutain bike and made the commitment to commute the 20 mile round trip to work at least twice a week. Part of the deal with myself was a reward of a new mountain bike if I kept up the commuting side of the bargain.
Well I was soon the owner of a Specialized Hardrock Uno, a fairly low end mountain bike. I figure if I'm going to be trying to save weight anywhere I need to deal with myself first. 6'1" and 210 pounds, no point throwing money at the bike just to save a pound or so :D The commuting must have done some good since I can haul myself up most hills around here. Did some nice rides out at Snoqualmie (apart from the damn mosquitoes), North Bend and Tiger Mt.
The commuting lapsed during the Seattle rainy season but I started up again a few weeks back and weather permitting am going for twice a week. When the summer really kicks in I'm going to try the commute at least 3 times a week.
Anyway, basically just enjoying being back on a bike again, this is FUN
