I just got a replacement [silver] PS2. I won't need a PS3 until the next-generation Grand Theft Auto comes out :D

A couple teraflops for $600 isn't something to sneeze at, even if it takes a year or so for some homebrew stuff.

I was wondering what the fuss was all about too. Usually, new gaming systems don't have alot of software yet.

The low tonight is somewhere in the 20s. These guys have heaters, but I doubt that's going to help much.

No way under any circumstances that I would pay 1,2 or 4K for a video game console. Even $500 seems too steep.

BUT....I wonder if they (the PS3 fanatics) would say the same thing about my carbon fiber bike. hee hee

I try to avoid version 1.0.0 (etc.) of any product. Why be a paying beta-tester and have to deal with problems that weren't caught in QA? I'll wait until a revision or patch comes out before I'll purchase a piece of hardware or software.

I'm really not a console person. Most games are a lot more fun to play on a PC. The only games I like to play on consoles are driving games, but I can just as easily buy a gamepad and play them on my pc.

I'll probably wait 'til the price goes down, or Final Fantasy XIII comes out, whichever's first. PS2 is still putting out amzing games, anyhoo. FFXII just came out on Halloween, and it has really made my grades turn to dung this half of the semester. :)

GTA is one of 2 games I've ever played on the Playstation. I still wouldn't spend the money though.

The reason why I'm going to shell out 500 for a ps3 (already did, actuallY) is that I not only get a gaming system, but also a blue-ray dvd. The cost of the HD player is pretty much worth it alone, so I might as well get a gaming system at the same time.

And this unit is completely firmware upgradeable, so not likely to have the same kinds of issues most systems come with - thank goodness!

and they are going to feel like a bunch of maroons when the price drops come this summer or microsoft unleashes the next big thing. But still for the graphics to be worthwile it looks like you need to purchase a HD tv for the thing. I wont complain though, I still use my game boy on a regular basis

Just heard on the news...a man was shot today for his PS3. :(

I heard about that shooting. 12 cruisers had to be there when a mall opened it's doors in Boston. Camping outfor 3days, is it worth it?

I picked up a Slim and love it except that Uncharted keeps freezing :(. I'm hoping another firmware update will fix it.

Lucky you. We just got a Nintendo 64. Needed a cartridge based platform so the kids wouldn't destroy the games.

I want the big upright one, with something like 100 games loaded into it. Of course, I'd lose interest after a week or less.

Were you fine with the drop in price but a sacrifice of Option of Linux and lack of Backwards Compatability?

Not that I ever play PS2 games on my PS3, but the lack of the compatibility is completely ridiculous.
