Heya'll

Another exciting Lemond Bike questions for ya'll... I was wondering if they just sell the frame and fork if I want... The reason I ask, is that I can get a killer deal on a Shimano Grouppo, since I work with a guy who's girlfriend works at Shimano... And in the interest of me saving a few bucks.. I figure it might be cheaper on the long run to start from scratch and build up. I have checked Lemond's site, but didn't see anywhere if they just sell frame and fork combos... I emailed their tech support, but haven;t heard back yet... if anyone knows.. any help would be great..

Thanks

Jeff

SipperPhoto: I think they will sell their higher end bikes as frame and fork only. Your best bet is to look on Ebay (just don't bid on any 55cm frames, please) :).

Another good source is the classifieds on www.roadbikereview.com

Happy Hunting

I just looked at eBay a couple of hours ago and there were several Lemond framesets. Even have a 55cm Maillot Jaune at a, so far, reasonable price. Be a pity to waste such a nice frame with Shimano gear, though (just kidding, of course).

Most any bikeshop that sells Lemonds can order whatever frameset you want.

Yeah, they will sell the 853 Pro frame, though I beleive they want a good amount for it. Ebay is the way to go. Even the 853 Select frames are really nice. I'm riding a Buenos Aires that I switched over to Campy (I agree with you on not wasting the frame by using Shimano on it :)

Anyway, they can be had fairly cheaply on the second hand market I beleive. Good luck

Heheh yeah I'd love to put some sweet Campy stuff on there, but unless you can hook me up with someone at their HQ, I think I'm gonna go with Shimano parts... I believe i can get them for cost.. or darn near... yeah I'm always checking Ebay... actually have my favorites setup to lemme know when new bikes show up...

Yeah that is why I was wondering... is it cheaper to just buy the whole bike from them, or get a frame, and build it up since I can get a discount on the grouppo... in the end it will probably work out to be about the same

Actually, it would still probably be cheaper to just buy the whole bike from them I think. Unless you get a good frame deal on Ebay that is.

I don't want to revive the never ending Shimano vs Campy debate but would someone tell me which of the Campy groups are similar to the 105 and ultegra groups.

Thanks!

The general concensus is that Campy Veloce is similar to 105, Centaur is similar to Ultegra, Chorus is similar to Dura Ace, and Record is in a league of its own.

And then there is the Record Carbon stuff.... man is that some sexy gear !
