Hey kids, me and a couple friends are planning a ride across America the summer after we graduate from HS, 2004. We were thinking of making it easier by renting a big van, and one person takes a turn to drive for a day. Hopefully well have 5-7 guys goin so we'll get bout 1 day off a week. We live close to baltimore in MD, and my question is first does anyone have a good route for us, and second, we want to go for about 2 months, is it possible to ride across and back in that time? We were thinking we would ride across and then drive back in the van if its not possible

you should talk to Arsbars... he/she? is doing the Hopkins 4k this summer, and their route starts from Balt too. Maybe you could find out what route they're taking.

You might be able to make it to the west coast in 2months, but not back. Even if you did it in 2 months you wouldn't have much time to enjoy the trip. It's not the destination, its the journey.

besides, riding in a van every few days is cheating.

Hey guys, thought your should know that you might be able to get a grant to cover the costs of your trip! I just read about a grant from balance bar that will award up to $10,000 to pursue such an adventure. You can apply online at balancebar.com/grants. Good luck with your trip, and by the way, using a van is cheating :D .
