Foo - Holy Freakin Cow! You gotta see this Ebay auction

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

This is stunning! $20,100.00 for a Playstation 3 on Ebay? Some people have more $$ than sense!

Yep, but if you have the money and you really want it, why not? To some people, $20k is pocket change. If they really need a PS3 before anyone else, go for it.

I don't need one that bad! I gotta give the seller credit though, it was a good $600.00 investment! Wish I'd done it!

Dunno, over $15,000 and you have to verify credit card and identifacation to get the bid in on Ebay now.

that has GOT to be a joke.
I mean..I know its not..but that's just pathetic.
ALL of the unrealistic bids are (0) history Ebayers. I doubt anything more than an overpriced second chance to the forth bidder down (who actually needs positive feedback) will result.
Did I mention a man lost his life today over a console?

Supply and demand. If someone is willing to pay $20,000 for that, means that it's worth that much for him.
Hey people pay alot of money and wait for year(s) for Sachs or Vanilla, and they are "just bicycle". ;)

The seller bought it at Walmart. At least this way he'll spend some money somewhere else and balance out how he screwed up the economy by shopping there. At least thats what I hope. I dunno, maybe he'll spend all 20G's at Walmart.
X-Box 360's were going for 60-70k when they first came out. One of em came with personal delivery to anywhere in the world heh.
I was going to pick one up and sell it on eBay to pay off my student loan. Too bad I didn't get one.

Interesting bid-history. Why was 6736cop's bid going up all by itself? It almost doubled with just him bidding. A shill?
No, not a shill. This is 6736cop chasing the proxy bid of greygoose27.

I can buy a CAR for less than that!!!
I saw people camping outside of my local Wal*Mart waiting for the PS3.
The top four bids were from unregistered members (http://pages.ebay.com/help/feedback/questions/feedback-unregistered.html). How the hell does that work?
Note: "Not a registered user" can refer to members who have cancelled their membership, or whose membership has been suspended by eBay. For example, a member whose correct contact information is no longer on file with us may have their registration suspended until the new contact information is entered. In either case, the member appears as "not a registered user" and is not allowed to buy or sell on eBay.
Looks like most of the legit bids ended around $1200.

This has been happening on a number of PS3 auctions. Seems some guy, or a group of people, have taken it upon themselves to **** with PS3 buyer. If true, I'd like to buy the guy a beer. A big, delicious beer. And maybe a cigar. If s/he is old enough.
The people standing in line to buy this garbage are fools. And anyone willing to hurt, steal, kill (accidental or otherwise) for this stupid toy should be sterilized and chained up in the public square for ridicule.

They hacked.[edit] On, second thought, suspension seems more likely.
The shooting incident happened in Conneticut.
Really sad.

- at least one of the units has a US$1,000,000.00 starting bid - definitely a joke...
- i get a real kick out of eBay... best entertainment value ever, and a boon for con artists, fences, and counterfeiters...
- but then i've seen some crazy stuff over bikes here on BF (like one ss/fixie thread about whether a six-year-old low-end steel frame bike w/a mix of 30-year-old parts was worth $600! about the cost of a new PS3 console in a couple months! hahahahahaha!)

not if they sell it on ebay and make a good profit. then a day or two in line would be a good payoff. but just to play with it I would never stand in line.

Yeah, but it's strange that someone smart enough to accrue such wealth is dumb enough to play video games.

Let's say you buy at $600, sell at $900. $150 dollars a day good money? Not bad work, if you can get it ,I guess.
But there have got to be better ways to make a living. I'm sure there is a two unit buyer's cap.

Buyers are getting pwn3d and don't even realize it.
On Digg, I read that PC Gamer magazine gave away some 7500 dollar computer to the first few people in line camping and who were guaranteed to get a PS3. In exchange, the people signed a contract saying they will never buy a PS3

Even if I could make a 100% profit off an ebay sale of one of these **** boxes, it still wouldn't be near enough compensation for standing in line with all those trolls.

people suck....end of story.
I think the Wii will be a far better console overall though....nintendo never had much "wow" factor, but at least their games had replay value, or were good multiplayer games.
