The MS 150 is tomorrow, and I am terrified!! I have been riding for only a few months. The longest ride i have done so far is 70 miles and when I was done, I wanted to die!!
Please tell me that I will make it 187 miles!! I know I can do the 100 miles the first day, but not so sure that I will be able to even sit on my bike to ride the rest the next day. Give me some tips to help me recover fast for the next day of riding.

Have you been following any kind of regular training schedule? If so and you have regurlarly been doing 70 mile rides on the weekends you should be okay.

Keep yourself well hydrated, eat plenty (GU or similar highly reccomened) but dont eat too much. About 300 calories per hour combinde with any sports drinks.

Are you on a team? If not, hook up with some people that share a similar pace with you. Dont try and kill yourself out of the gate. Get plenty of sleep over night. (Both tonight and tomorrow)

If you are riding the Houston Austin MS, I will see you there, I will be the other person on a bike. M:p :p Actually I am riding with SCCC.

This too will be my first MS and my first English Century. I have been riding in the Mid 80 mile range most Saturdays as well as riding 40+ on Sundays and 30 miles three days per weekdays.

Also went to Huntsville to get some hill work in.

I am so excited, I bet you are too.

Good luck to both of you on your MS-150 rides. I'm doing one in September. Something that helped me greatly when I did my first one (Hill country challenge in San Antonio, TX) after the first day I spent a good amount of time massaging my legs. If you can get someone else to do that for you that's even better :)

On a multi-day ride, yes, the massage helps. Also, after you get off the bike - eat like crazy!

I remember my first MS ride, years ago. Saturday, after getting off the bike, I went to my hotel, and next door was a Pizza Hut. I went in, had a medium pizza, an order of spagetti, and cheese bread. Ate every bite!

The next morning, I felt great - rode stronger than I had on Saturday!

Good luck!

Man you guys are so luck! The weather is going to be GREAT this weekend!
1. When you start getting tired, towards the end, just try to focus on getting from rest stop to rest stop do worry about how far you have left to go.
2. eat and drink. be sure to mix up Power Aid/Gatorade with drinking water you'll need the salt.
3. be sure to have a change of riding cloths for the second day. Usually it's very humid over night and your cloths dont dry.
4. Remember it's a ride. Have fun you don’t have to finish in 3 hours.
5. there will be alcohol and the camping area, DON’T DRINK IT.
6. eat more for dinner than you can possible stand. Pasta.
7. again have fun.

You can say that again about the weather! Perfect luck.

I generally use cytomax rather than the gatorade that the rides provide which tends to be too sweet.

Lucky us - our club has massage therapists on site when we get to La Grange. Plan on taking them up on that.

Thanks for the good wishes.

I can't wait -- tomorrow's the big day and it looks like we're going to have a beautiful weekend! I'll be in the ConocoPhilips-HP tent in LaGrange -- after the shower I'll be wearing a white HP ballcap and gray shorts and white HP t-shirt. Just ask around for a bearded guy from HP named Greg ... see ya there! :D

I'm drooling, tours already. Some really have it made. I can't wait for the semester to end, so I can do some serious riding with my husband and grand baby. Meanwhile, I'll be cleaning the dog run and yard for spring.
Have a Great Ride
