We have always heard that adults should drink eight, count them eight, glasses of water daily. Then along comes the good doctor and defines a glass!

"What hasn't been said, though, is how large a glass," Dr. Gore said. "To keep your body from becoming dehydrated, a person should drink an ounce of water for every two pounds of their body weight."

It's an interesting read on that stuff that makes up 65% of you!

If you're riding hard much much more. The guys in the "Tour" drink as much as 15 to over 20 pints a day! Plus lots of Electrolytes, very important! it is very easy to "dilute" the salts etc. you need to function properly!!!!

At the end of the second day of RAGBRAI, our Cycle Sports team all ate at a Chinese restaurant. The little waitress asked what we wanted to drink, and we all said "Water!" She had no sooner served all the drinks, and the first ones to receive thier glasses were already asking for more! I don't know how many times she had to refill our glasses, but we sure kept her busy!

I can't speak for the others, but I bet I got close to my 100 ounces of water at that sitting!

A young man that our oldest daughter works with at Chick Fil A is on the local high school football team. He told me the other day that his coach mixes unflavored Pedia Lite(?) with their Gatorade or Powerade as a replenishment drink. Supposedly it does wonders and doesn't taste half bad. I might give it a try on the next longer ride I do.
