Classic & Vintage - Old bike/velocipede plans

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

All the sources on bicycle history I read say that the bike magazines of the 1800's often printed plans from the home mechanic to make their own machines at home.
Does anyone know of any of these which have been reprinted or made available somehow? I'm not really thinking of building my own Draissiene, but of the possibility of making scale models.

The magazines you mention may well be available in (dare I suggest this?) the collections of public libraries.
I see old cycling publications on eBay from time to time as well. Without knowing the specific content of a magazine, though, buying one would be a shot in the dark.
If anyone can help you with your request, it would be the Wheelmen (http://www.thewheelmen.org/default.htm). They are bicycle preservationists, restorers and historians. Check out their website. They have a lot of publications, some of which might fill your needs. They also have a good page of links.

Maybe somewhere....I kinda don't think any library around here keeps magazines on file from the 1800's........
