Is it true what I heard? Did the Posties get Roland Green to sign on as a roadie?

Roland wants to ride road races with the Canadian national team to help them in the world competition. The number of riders a country is allowed in this competition is based on the number of points points earned by that country's riders over the course of the year. However, Trek stated that he must ride on Trek bikes as that is what is in his contract. Became big bone of contention between Trek and Roland. Roland finally is riding on the road, on a Trek, and possibly for USPS in "selected" races. But his goal is to earn points for Canada, like he did with his good performance in Malaysia, where he came in 4th, I believe it was. He would have been on the podium had he not flatted at a most inopportune time in a very fast stage. He wasn't able to catch back on as the peleton was steaming and it was near the end of the stage.

Don't recall who he was riding for in the races just before Sea Otter, but dropped out after a couple of stages to insure that he was in good shape for the MTB portion of the race. Apparently it was a smart move as he won in the MTB race.

Roland Green is listed on the USPS team for the upcoming Tour de Georgia. Postal will have an eight-man team led by Floyd Landis. Should be a good shootout between them and the other top U.S. teams, like Saturn and Navigators.
