I've been wanting to ride from my house in Sherman Oaks to Rose Bowl and back for some time just as a personal agenda item. Without doing much planning a friend called me late Suturday and asked if I wanted to go out and ride early Sunday morning. Got the nod from wife as she will watch the kids for the first half of day. I asked if he would not mind starting at my house for a 45 mile round trip ride. The plan was set for 8 AM to meet by the Magnolia and Van Nuys park which is across the street from my house. We ended up rolling around 9 AM.
Total moving time 3 hours 9 min with 42.5 miles. Elevation gain +3,594 / -3,619 according to my Garmin. Never having been on this round trip I expected larger and longer climbs, but it was all good:

It was realy cold at the start and I did not think about stopping or taking pics until I got way past the LA Zoo as I did not want to take my gloves off. Just keep moving, I thought. It was about 50%. Actualy, the first pic is in Glendale on Glenoaks:

Next is the a couple of shots of Chevy Chase at the begging of the climb. Not much traffic:
