View Full Version : help with FSA carbon seatpost?

I am trying to reassemble a new bike after shipping, and I am having trouble with the seatpost. It is a carbonfiber FSA SL-K 27.2. It is VERY tight. It would take a "significant" amount of pressure to insert. An aluminum one of the same size from my old bike slides in just fine.

Does anyone know if this particular seat post runs large? It is tight enough I wonder whether I need a 27.0 or different brand? If so, is that something the store I bought it from should help with? (it is their standard seatpost for the bike.)

I guess I am looking for guidance on how tight is too tight. And what if anything is different for a carbon post than aluminum. Otherwise I know I need a special lube for carbon--brands anyone?

Thank you,

Tai-tai

try prising open the frame seatpost slot SLIGHTLY and see if its any easier to insert.

measure the seatpost with a pair of mic's and make sure it is what it says it is. don't spread your frame.
Also make sure the seat post clamp is open.
