Ok, so I've never posted on the BMX Forum (not new to bikeforums, though) so I'm not exactly a dedicated poster looking for help, but maybe I can get some anyway...

I've got an old GT Vertigo, 1990 I think (serial number GH 90-- etc) that someone "looking for old BMX bikes and parts is interested in. It's in decent shape (I rode it as a 13 year old) and as far as I know, everything but stickers and grips is original. Some guy in the restoration business told me he could get $250-300 for it fully restored, and now I'm being offered $80 for it.

So now I'm checking here just to make sure I don't get completely screwed and be that sucker that trades a rare gem for a hamburger (ok, I'm exagerating, but you know wha I mean...).

All things considered, I asked for $100 for it (no shipping- local buyer), knowing that this person is probably looking to fix it up and make money on it. What do you guys think?

Thanks for any help!

Will

It's only worth what sombody will pay. I would try asking for $100, but if they say no just take the $80.

Depends on how much crack the buyer and seller are smoking. One sold on ebay for $37, another went unsold at $150, as the reserve was not met. If you've had this bike since the 1990's, then $100 or even $80 would be a deal for you. He may turn around and sell it for more, but he won't be making any profit.

I had an old Landcruiser that I paid too much for. I did some work on it and then sold it to my brother for $1,700. He completely restored it and sold it for $8,500. Do I feel burned? Nope, he lost at least a grand on the sale, plus all the time and labor he put into it.

There's a lesson there somewhere.

these guys are right if you brought it to me in great shape I would buy it for 80-100 and sell it for 120-140. It is a gt from the 90's it's not the hottest collectable out there. If you have happen to have an original quad angle send me an email.
