Last night I went to a premier of Kranked 5. What a showing. This movie is stuffed full of fantastic riding. The only I found it lacking was much street, it had a small amount but mostly this movie was about SPEED and going HUGE! Some key points I can't get out of my head.
Aside from the trials by Ryan Leech and the street scene in Toronto there was very little slow skilled action. It whet my appetite but I ALWAYS love watching Leech as imo he is the best combination rider around. He combines his trials skills and trail skills. This creates some extremely unique lines on the trails. And riding skinnies, HAH, this guy rides the skinniest. Awesome.
BearClaw (DARREN BERRECLOTH). If you haven't heard the name this guy made me scream. 15 foot drops. Nothing right. Not for the pros. Nope...throw a nose stall 360 off of the edge and you have a crowd of 300 mtbers screaming. This guy can't do anything like a normal human he HAS to throw down some style. One of the most fantastic scenes was a wall ride on a mountain. Imaging dhilling into the side of a cliff off of a kicker andturning the bike around partway up the cliff and then turning it into a dh run. For someone who has been on a mtb 9 or 10 months he is one of my top3 right now.
There was a lot of dh in this movie. I am not a dh freak and speed doesn't do nearly as much for my adrenaline as style and tricks but WOW. The dh sections were rare and remote. They were getting helidropped and just ripped down the side of a mountain. Awesome. Almost makes me want a dedicated dh bike.
This movie was about the young up and comers and was all about style. It also had super T (the new bender with style), bourdon, waddel and much more. I definately intend to buy a copy and if you enjoy freeriding, urban whatever you want to call it this is a great movie. :)
