Texas - Texas BF's Jersey - Interest and Design Thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I like them both and I really hope there are enough orders for me to get one of each.

I think we're almost ready for a vote. On Nathans design I'm not sure about the cow skull and flags. On the one hand I like putting something back there. On the other it seems a little "red kneck"? Everything else on the jersey is a home run for me.
After seeing the Cali jerseys in person one thing that makes them look awesome is how simple/clean the design is. Of course red and black always look good.
I'll wait a bit ... before starting a poll to see who wants which. I certainly think if we can get enough orders for both there's no reason not to do both.
Add a "I want both" choice to your poll.
I'll be in that one.
I like them both as well, but Cuda's is my favorite of the two. Very nice work Jon, and thanks to all the other people who took time to design, improve and critique.
Here are my thoughts on changes.
Would prefer block letters or something a bit more classic for the TEXAS on front.
I agree with Ravenmore and Hobartlemagne (man we need to abreviate that handle Ryan!) that less is more. The chainring and cyclist get a bit busy. Just the star is fine with me. If we stay with one thing, I think it should be contained within the star, and either the cyclist or chainring is fine.
I like the white sleeve bands.
As to the size of the BF logo on back, what if BF logo and the Dont mess with Texas were swapped?

There's a fine line between too little and too much. Agree that either the cyclist or chainring would be sufficient and that swapping "Don't Mess" and BF URL on the back would be good. Also agree about the font on the front should be more along the lines of the font of the letters around the star.
1) The font on the front for "Texas" is the same front as on the back for BikeForums.net and the "TEXAS" around the star. I'll look at my fonts and see what other options there are that might look better.
2) I agree that the chainring and the cyclist are a bit much. I put the chainring in just for dstrong and to see how it would look. I agree it's probably a bit too much. I like the cyclists inside the star personally. :)
3) I like the idea of keeping the BikeForums.net text somewhat predominate on the jersey so its visable at a decent range.
Thanks for the input everyone, this is why I'm putting off putting it to a vote just yet so we can tweak each design to as close to what everyone likes as possible first. :)
EDIT:
Ok, removed the chain ring, flipped the BikeForums.net around on the side panels so that they are right side up when you're on the bike. ;) I put the "TEXAS" on the front of the jersey in CAPS instead of Title Case. And added 9 different font options off to the side that we can choose from that I have and looked like something that we'd want to go with. The first one shows Texas in all CAPS for the 9 options, the second shows "Texas"

Awesome work. I think I like version 1 option 4

Given the input on what has been submitted, my designs have been going in the wrong direction. I'm going to finish one design, it would at least make a great Texas/cyclist themed wallpaper.:D
From just Cuda's and Nathan's last submissions, I think voting will be close.

I like TEXAS instead of Texas. Hopefully the artists at Champion (or wherever) can make recommendations on size and scale of the elements. I think some things are too big but would defer to them to make sure the jersey is "balanced".
Thanks for everyone bearing with me on the whole chainring thing. It doesn't bother me one bit that it's not there (not that y'all care whether it bothered me or not).
Are we going to run into any issues using the same blue for the jersey and then putting the TX flag, with the same blue, on it? Or do we have to put borders around the flag? Same on the "Independence" sleeve with the red strips running into the red background.
I do prefer the blue jersey body to red...but then...I ride a blue bike.

I'd probably have a thin border on the flags. Probably black in both instances (or white for the Texas State flag as I've got on my last version).
Spider - how much time would you need to finish your design and post it for consideration?

I would go with either a black or gold border around the State flag. As for my designs, what has been posted is better. One idea has spun into a whole different animal. I hate "designing" sometimes, my creative A.D.D. shows through.
Edit: When I am done drawing up my mutant from the jersey design I will post it in a new thread for all to enjoy or laugh at.
POLL THREAD NOW CREATED! :)
Closing this thread now. Any comments should be made in the new thread (stuck at top of forum).
