I suspect the Bike Forum has lost some of it's members. I enjoyed the exchange between differing opinons. Bike related issues only takes up 60% of many of our lives. Often our riding is used to relieve the stress of the present day world.
I am sure many BF members will miss the commadarie of P adn R. I say it avoids the spill over of p and r into other venues, as now will seem more likely. Some who just don't give a hoot about the world or pay attention should not care/ since they ignore p and r anyway. Some just resent those who care or who have opinions. P and R is a seperate forum , which can be ignored by those who dont' think about the world. Mostly what seems strong disagreements is really good hearted, I think. Those sensitive to exchanging ideas/ should just go elsewhere. Don't click, it's that simple.
P adn R does often overlap into bike advocacy related issues/ such as it relates to environment/ economic issues. P adn R is just as related to cycling as movies or Foo. It's bike forums loss , if p and r goes away, because some of us will likely go away. Cycling and politics to mix. I find often at bike rides. lunch turns political. It's natural. Wlll miss connecting to voices such as Randa and Lem.
Where are you all now. What do you think. ?
I certainly will be less connected to B/F because some of our lives major issues are only indirectly related to cycling . Particularily in the winter, when cycling life seems less with us. I read Joe will correct this mistake and omission. Hope so. It' s bike forums loss, that reduces it's appeal to many.

I agree cyclezealot........
Bicyclists are 'eccentric'(?? for want of better term??), and
going against norm is the norm. Strong P&R sensibility is as
much part of a bicyclist as nutrition is.........
Until then I will be all over chastising people in the Nutrition Forum
for not being Vegans, in the Road forum insulting people who ask
"what rack will work on a chevy Suburban", and in A & S telling
those guys to not let ThE mAn hold them down and start flipping
cars off and riding on the sidewalk.......
Well on second thought , maybe not...those guys are MEAN !!

I too, will miss the P&RII forums if in fact they are long gone. I found that 90% of my bike forum time was allocated to P&R. Even though I was not on as much as the other regulars, I felt I knew them better through these P&R forums as you got up close with each member. Although disagreements were obvious, we were more connected to each other than through the other forums with topics like, "I stubbed my big toe, what size chain ring?" Like LemInPa says, politics is as much a part of Bike Forums as ANY other sub catagory. We are by our "geekiness" [for lack of a better term] much more of an informed group than say, model railroaders, crafters, RC car nuts or any other million different groups.

so was someone sniveling with big tear drops?
everyone in P/R had valid points and issues that were brought up that was a conduit to their thinking with concerns to the events of today and their persepctive opinions and thoughts.
It was a vast pool of intelligent information along with humerous sarcasm

I found it quite educational, entertaining, comical, a way and a means to agree to disagree.
everyone that contributed to that from had a worthwhile opinion rather others agreeded or not.
Too Bad!

I doubt P&R is gone for good. We lost a lot of stuff on the server crash. I know some of my posts vanished, I don't make it a habit to spontaneously delete my own posts.

good news.
I thought it was possibly hijacked by the far left. Pelosi, murtha, kennedy, kerry, clinton were looking for informative material to debate with the GOP.

That's strange. I thought it was part of Rove's renewed effort to create lasting GOP dominance by supressing dissent. Go figure.

Hey, did you all notice that Pelosi is not as much a nut as Vic thought -- she dumped Alcee Hastings.

Did you also see how Pegos Springs, Colorado, has solidified its support around that poor couple who put up the peace sign. Glad to see that hope for peace is still part of the Christmas spirit.

read the two posts above, loser pedex tried to call me out

pedex, when the pnr forum went down it removed the posts from everyone's personal histories

nice try --no one has pnr history in their profile since the forum went down, so of course it showed you posts of mine from other forums. look at any PnR regular's history--no PnR posts.

We at p and r don't take our disagreements seriously.I think? Except for maybe one or two at least. No one has booby trapped someone else's power steering on some strangers' Hummer , like those folks over at alternative bike culture.

blond girl. Hummers are ok at p and r; even if you get blamed for the worlds' energy crisis. But, Alternative bike culture. It really is treasonous. Don't go there. / PS. what kind of bike rack fits a hummer.
