Northeast - Manhattan Bridge North Path closed?

I heard someone mention that the North Side bike path on the Manhattan Bridge is closed off? WTF??? Is this true? For how long are they going to keep it shut?
I walked over the bridge a couple of months ago and the south side was closed off. I hope they haven't changed that, as I'm finishing up setting up the "commuter" to start riding to work.

northpath has been closed for a while and bikes and peds are sharing the south path. it's not bad but a bit more annoying due to the steps on the brooklyn side.
October 2007 it should be reopened.

the brooklyn bride is always right there as well, if you need it. although that's probably much worse with pedestrians.

Probably for the same reason they've been diverting Subway service on the bridge - construction.

yeah, i've been using it for a little while now.
i thought that maybe there would be some improvments made. but it's exactly as it was before...i think all the broken glass from last year is still in the same spots even. so, i guess they were working on another part of the bridge...
i'm just glad to have it back. screw you brooklyn bridge with all your tourists!!

Speaking of the Manhattan Bridge... I was there like an hour ago. The North side of the bridge is closed due to repairs and is only open on weekends. The South side which can be accessed from Bedford Ave between South 5th and South 6th is open everyday.
How often and when do you guys ride there?
DoH! Let's see, I went this past Saturday four times and the time before was on the 16th twice.

That's the Williamsburg Bridge, not the Manhattan Bridge.

I don't think they were doing any work on the bike path. They were just using it as a staging area for the construction they were doing on the bridge's roadway.
