Mountain Biking - How many??

How many Fisher riders are out there on these forums?

Joshua rider here... My first "serious" mountain bike, would love to upgrade to a sugar.

I bet you would. I got to ride a Sugar 3 and dude, it was nice. I met a guy with a Klein Adroit Race last night. Wooooeeee!!!! nice, but not as cool as Fisher.

I have a Sugar 3 and it is great. Went from a bike with no suspenson to the Sugar. What a difference

My first real MTB was a Fisher AL1. This was about 9 years ago. it had shimaNO DX components on it. non suspended! Man, it kicked the living sheet out of you. I have had several firends who bought them. That was my last experience with Gary's stuff.

i ride a heavily upgraded 96 hoo koo e koo....in fact the only real original parts on it are the frame, headset, stem, bb and crank.

ive been debating going to full susp with the jamis dakar, but i love that hkek frame...the geometry is excellent, so i think ill keep riding it for a while.

Hkek's are coolio. Hunter, I have DX stuff on my bike. I haven't seen any place selling DX stuff though.

fubar - how old is your bike? They haven't made DX components for quite a while.

I have a 96 Hookoo e Koo. My first "real" mountain bike. It came with STX components. The bike has served me very well and it's still being ridden hard.

I'm guessing around '96. I'm not sure, I got it used.I think Shimano is making them again because they have DX listed at their site now.

i ride a 2001 big sur. i bought it as an entry level bike a little over a month ago, and have since grown proud to say that i own a fisher. i looked at a specialized rockhopper and the big sur. the fisher just called to me, and it just felt better when i was on it. plus, my big sur just looks bad. and that's gotta count for something, right?

my bike just feels just right for me...except for that wtb-sstx-prostate-killer seat it came equipped with. any suggestions for upgrades?

same as mine! awesome bike isnt it? i just love the geometry....its a great ride:)

Tomas, I use a Terry Liberator Ti which I really like. It's definitely package friendly. Terry also makes the Fly which a narrower saddle than the Liberator.

I still have my Hookoo E koo. It doesn't get ridden as much as it used to but I still take it out on occasion. I still the original Fish stix on it.

I saw a Cannondale Raven while I was in Alabama....Nice, the dude who was riding it blasted past me and cruised down some stairs, can't do that on a hardtail!! Well,unless you can take some shaking.

I had a '97 Z1, it was sweet! All polished with yellow decals and full XT groupo with Rock Shox Judy SL fork. It was my first full suspension and I had a blast with it. Unfortunately I cracked the frame at the shock mount. Apparently a pretty common problem with those frames. It took me about 6 months to get a warranty replacement and bought another bike in the meantime and ended up selling the replacement when I got it.

what did that saddle set you back? and would it be stout enough for me (6'1", 205#)?

I got it on sale at Performance for $69. You may be able to find it even cheaper if you look around. Also, check out the Selle Italia Trans Am saddle. I have a couple of friends who ride that saddle and they are very happy with it.

Yeah, the saddle should be plenty strong for you.

Neil Gunton, the "Crazy Guy on a Bike" who has an entertaining journal of his cross-America solo tour on the site with the same name, switched to a Terry saddle after a few weeks and it probably saved his trip. So it's definitely the right one for some cyclists.
