Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Keeping Marinoni straps in one piece dammit

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have suffered what I am told is a very common occurence with my Marinoni laminated straps delaminating. I managed to repair one of them with epoxy, but the other one I overglued and now its stiff as wood (feel free to run wild with that comment if you feel so inclined :D ) Anyway, has anyone tried sealing the edges with something gluey but rubbery? I'm thinking keeping water out will help prevent the glue from destickyifying. What about that stuff you can use to repair rubber shoe soles? Would that work? Any thoughts/suggestions/personal experience to impart?

When scanning my post for improper use of language you missed "destickyifying". It *isn't* a word.

Do you think super glue is more rubbery than Epoxy? Might be worth a shot. Also, I should clarify that I intend to seal the edges of some new straps before using them. My current pair began to delam after one week! I know someone will tell me to buy some other straps but these are the only laminated straps I could find locally. If this experiment doesn't work I'll just buy some other ones off of the internet.
What if you run the straps through a laminator?
**** yeah.
Yeah, I've used shoe goo, but it has a tendency to stick out the sides of the straps and makes it hard to pull it through the clips. And then ends up de-laminating somewhere else on the strap anyway...
Traffic Jammer speaks truth. Look for some new straps; you're only delaying the inevitable.

The Marinonis are re-branded Silvas. I'm pretty sure you can get a new set quite cheaply on eBay.

I seem to have misplaced my LAMimate Omega 2000.
Hmm thanks for the info on the shoe goo. I wonder if I could just put a thin layer along the edges to help seal it off. I want to do this to a new set of straps before even installing the straps on my pedals, since it only took a week for the current set to split.

Touche. You called it. I would do that but I really like the feel of clips and straps when riding fixed. Hell I just love clips and straps period. I realized that this week riding clipless on my road bike every day at work. Clipless pedals are cool but I dunno they aren't "it" for me.

Yup. Maybe it's time for the fancy ****. On the other hand, I wonder if straps could be crudely fashioned from materials one might find at home. Duct Tape perhaps? "Laminated" with a layer of twisted pipe cleaners in the middle?

Well played.
Edit: Um how do you put multiple quotes in one post? Look at me with my three posts in a row. I swear it's 'cause of incompetance, not a cry for *virtual* attention.
