General Cycling Discussion - I'm new here

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just thought I'd introduce myself since I'm new to this forum. Been biking since I can't remember when but I'm a little new to this whole computer thing.
A little about myself: I've been training for a while for this race coming up in May in New York. I'm part of a team that's racing in the Balance Bar Adventure Sprints. Should be a lot of fun and that has been my motivation lately to get off my butt. Any other Balance Bar racers out there?
Welcome to Bikeforums, genius.

Hi Sanra - welcome
welcome to the forum. Can you tell me more about this races. where in New York and when in May?
Thanks, all, for the welcome :)
ahuman, the Balance Bar Adventure Sprints are on May 18th and it looks really fun and a great challenge. It's a team race of about 3-6 hours. There's running, swimming, biking and I think some kayaking involved. But the kayaking isn't like the hard core white water river stuff. I think you have to kayak in a lake. Go to www.balancebaradventure.com/sprints to learn more about it. They have a lot of info on past races and the ones coming up. Oh, and if you decide to enter, I found this code that waives the late registration fee: XXLATE
Let me know if you decide to enter, maybe I'll see you there!

Welcome Genius! I'm not a Balance Bar Racer, but looking to do my first adventure race in September. The race I'm training for is called sea2summit in beautiful British Columbia. I would love to know how long you have been training and how many members are on your team. Good Luck! and be sure to let us know how you do. - Yvonne
Welcome all. I have never had the physical ability or the time to race, but I greatly respect those who do.
Jeepbikerun,
Glad to hear you're getting into adventure racing. My friends are what make up my team. We've been friends since high school track so we're all in good shape. We've been training for about a month for this race. The great thing about the Balance bar races is that they have them all over the country. You might want to look into when the adventure sprint comes near you.
Is the sea2summit race a team race?

The race can be done as a team or solo. I am doing this as a team of two. It is a two day race over 100 miles. You can check it out at www.sea2summit.com I am doing the Whistler adventure. I will have to check out the Balace Bar Races and see what they are like. They sound like fun!

welcome to the BFC, and good luck to the race your joining
I know Balance Bar has a 24 hour race you might want to check out as you seem to be in the elite range of the athletes that apply to these things.
Thank you all for the warm welcome.
