Maybe it's lost since the problems Bike forums had recently.

It had photos or winter bikes, and the first one was a bike with really wide tires (something like 4 inches) that was the bike of an iditabike winner..

Then there were pictures of the puglsey fit with wide tires as well, and links to an australian (or many New-Zealand) who crossed a long desert on a pugsley...

I used the search feature, but can't find it. :(

That was a picture of Mike Curiak's custom Moot's titanium frame Iditabike. Here's one picture I saved. I think it was shown at Interbike.

Special features it has: Frame and front forks are a container for fuel for stove. Front and rear wheel are interchangable. Both are rear wheels with a cassette. Special front and rear titanium racks for greater strength and dependability. Special vacuum flask holders to help keep water from freezing.

Please see this link. Mike holds the world record on both the short (350) mile course and the long (1100) mile course. This is a mostly self supported race. The long course I believe was completed on this bike.

Thats one dam good read. I like it when he points out what happens to the bike in sub zero temps. I have had the headset get very sticky at -25F. The tube failures freak me out. I wonder if they make cold weather bike tubes now.

At 25 degrees below, the suspension seat post on his bike froze solid.

• At 30 degrees below, the headsets on the bikes started to freeze, making it hard to turn the handlebars.

• At 40 degrees below, the tube failures started.

• At 47 degrees below, the plastic head on his tire pump shattered.

• At 52 degrees below, the headsets on the bikes became so stiff that the handlebars wouldn't turn more than 10 degrees.

• At 55 degrees below and colder, it was time to forget riding and start pushing, because tubes wouldn't hold up at these temperatures and patching them was impossible.

• And at 60 degrees below, the only thing that mattered were the words of Stuck:
