Classic & Vintage - anyone know what this is??? muscle bike

Hope this post is in the right forum......it looks like a muscle bike and has the name "Rekord" on the 3 stickers.....very cool seat and sach's 3 speed shifter, also some real laid back handlebars. I just got it and can't find any info on it. Maybe German???

I saw something simlar back in the 60's and the shifter was a slap shifter that was intended to give the child a car like shifter. The back in of the bike where the loop is was intended to for kids to hold on with their hands while you dragged them on roller skates. I don't think that seat is original though, it looks modified to handle that odd seat. But that's all I remember.

It looks like a clone of a Raleigh Chopper.

I had such a thing with a longer seat, huge rear tyre and backpedal brake and spent most of the time skidding.

Right on D*Alex. I had a horrific family jewel/gearlever interface on a Raleigh Chopper (my brother's) when the sturmey archer 3 speed slipped.

The thing also weighed the same as a small car!

I had a Mobo Cross 70 bike, chopper style but derailleur(Huret) gears.

The picture might be anything, chopper styles were popular in the early to mid 70's.

a few added details......The front shock's are not functional, it's a solid tube from forks to handlebars. The upper frame (horizontal tube) is a twin pipe and the downtube (angled pipe ?) is square pipe. I found an Iverson with similar handlears, the rims have knurled sides where the brake pads rub. Oh! also it came from the factory wth the tire pump seen behind the seat tube because it has a little hanger welded to the frame to hold pump in position.

These gear levers, looking like a car stickshift with 3 gears if memory serves me correct, was popular when I was a kid in middle of 70's. I never got to have one of the reason chewa mention. My parents said it could cause PAIN and they were right. But I still would like one:D

Those "stik shift" shifters are highly collectible today.
