I normally start at the Marriott Hotel on the corner of Jamboree and that side street that runs into Fletcher Jones Mercedes...then I ride CW around the BB then off up the San Diego River trail....
Having said that, I don't mind riding any direction...I like the BB at that time of day during the week because there's just too many Vehicles on the streets that time of day and they're all running late for work...
Cool, I live on the trail (near Main Street) and will just ride down to meet you.

Saturday and monday morning I'll be riding with the "fire crew" at 6am from UCI's ARC up NPC to PCH to the BB-CCW to campus and back to the ARC, about 20 miles in 55 minutes. We have to be back at the fire station at 7am. Welcome to join us-- anyone??

That would be great! I'm planning on doing this ride every week at the same time, so it would be good if we could all set up a time and place so if anyone wants to go, great....
To be honest, I haven't had much time to ride since my wife's back surgery in Oct, maybe once a week, she rides too when she's OK...so I'm really looking forward to riding regularly again...

Bring full fingered gloves if you decide to come.....
I was planning on having arm/leg warmers, a SS jersey, headsweat, long fingered gloves, and a light cycling jacket.
Thanks for the heads up!
I may join you for these once the kids are off for their two week winter break later in the month.

The dagger is ceremonial and stays with me wherever I go, but I'll be sure to restrict myself to just that one  so that you don't think that I was a participant of the 1936 Olympics...

I'm going to recommend you go with the brown jersey with the black armband. It's what all the fashionable (blonde-haired blue-eyed) kids are wearing these days...
What's the pace like on these back bay rides? Fast enough to keep the icicles from forming on you?

It's only 14-16 mph average...the problem is, the faster you go the colder you get...it's not too bad at all untill you descend onto the BB down that steep hill...it really wakes you up....for some odd reason my Gloves are now silver...
My feet are always nice and toasty though, although it can be hard clipping in with Jackboots!!

YAY! I can keep up with that!!! I was a little worried. :o How often are you doing this? I will definitely be up for it when the kids are out of school, I'll probably ride from home in HB then maybe tag some extra miles on some of the days.

I did a back bay ride this morning. Got to the steep decline point into BB at 7:00am. Looked for extort and jaguar27, but didn't see them. I was freezing, so I headed toward PCH. Then tea at starbucks (which I usually try to avoid) just before where PCH goes under the 55. Then a flat right in front of Sterling BMW. I wanted to make it to Main Street in HB, but after the flat repair, I just headed home.
Why is it that exactly when my hands warm up my toes turn to ice? It's as if the cold transfers in a split second from my hands to my feet. Very strange.
I'm definitely getting some full-finger gloves later today. Maybe some matching full-toe socks, too.

I did the BB this morning too....give me a call next time (The night before) and we can hook up sometime...
It wasn't THAT cold this morning...Tuesday was the worst!!
Yes, you need full fingered gloves, but get yourself a Craft Base Layer, that's what I use, they're around $40, from Performance, but worth every cent, if you keep your chest warm your Fingers and toes won't get so cold...
BTW, I was alone and did an 18.4 average...there wasn't much wind today...

I got two of the craft base layers, the kind with the wind-stopping material in front. They were on the 50% off rack at Performance. Great stuff. Now, it's just my hands. The right gloves should solve that.
I woulda PMed you but I decided on riding literally 20 minutes before I left. I'll PM you next time for sure.

ugh!! I feel bad, I didn't get up in time...I hope you wasn't looking for me..but deffinately 110% tomorrow (weds)...I need to catch up....
Not a problem, I thought I was late so I went up the street to the Marriott (just to the cul-de-sac, and not up to the hotel, right?) and then turned around and took off down the BB... I didn't catch anyone, but I didn't see anyone except joggers and I couldn't push myself very hard today. Once I hit Dover I completely ran out of energy, my camelback didn't seem to want to allow water to come out and so I just cruised back home at a slower pace.
I probably would have held you up, but if I feel better (eating more food is better... I have already had a banana, two bowls of granola, and an orange is being grabbed next) I'll be up for the ride in the AM tomorrow.
I'm at home..... just low on energy right now and could not see myself at work today...
getting x-mas shopping done though... I buy things and they deliver it all wrapped up to the people on my list! :D
Well...I hope you feel better soon. I wasn't hungry or tired yesterday but now all I want to do is eat and sleep. Too bad I can't do both at the same time. :p Even worse...it's too bad I have nothing appetizing to eat in the house...back to nothing sounding good again. :(
I am heading to the store in a few minutes. That salad from the deli the other night was wonderful... strawberries, blackberries, walnuts, and mild goat cheese over a bed of greens. I believe that it had like a light fruit vinaigrette dressing that linked everything together.
I also picked up an entire stick of brusselsprouts and am going to saute them with butter, pepper and garlic before serving them with sun dried tomato turkey sausages... that will be for later this afternoon.
Did that get you hungry?
Do you deliver? :roflmao:
what time does the spin class start?
what time does the spin class start?
Tomorrow night at 5:30. I'm hungry now though...lol!
ooops..... The store (Ralph's) did not have any good tuna for sashimi that I was thinking would be a great addition, so the salad will not be ready dine for a while. Therefore, I am going to have to cook up a fried egg sandwich for lunch...
hmmm, butter, eggs yum...
You buy your own fish for sashimi? From Ralphs???
Actually...I'm looking for a good place that carries sushi grade salmon...Ebisu gets mighty pricey!

I was just in HB. Bella Terra/SCC, in fact. No restaurants were open. I should have just stopped by Los Primos.

You were up here and didn't bring me lunch?
Oh...and what did you buy at SCC?
no, I looked at Ralph's, they just went though a renovation and now a bunch of 'Artisian' brands are highlighted. Since the renovation I had not stopped at the fish counter... just in case the quality had improved...
but it was not to be, because the fish looked the same as before (I will not buy cod from them)... I'll head over to Ranch 99...
What do you buy from Ranch 99...I can't keep spending what I do on sashimi at Ebisu, especially when Marcellus steals half of it...little ****.

I was busy trying to find something to eat myself. I ended up with 50g of protein shake from GNC.
I just used my washed out store credit receipt and traded it for Specialized bar tape.

99 has a whole bunch of sashimi choices.
I'll let you know this afternoon. They have all the cool stuff there. silverfish, octopus, squid, probably urchin as well...
They are also open on Christmas Day and I get to buy live lobsters for my holiday feast! :D
This is not helping my hunger go away! :(
