Ok...

I can't find the original thread, but I am tring to date a Miyata ?912 without the serial # because it was removed before I got the bike. I was finally able to get a date code off of the Shimano 600 components.
It is FB, so 1981/Feb. I would still like to know if it is a 912 and what it would have looked like with original paint if possible. What were the colours of the bikes in 81? The bike has been repainted and the handlebar tapes have been changed, and I'm unsure of the original colours.
The frame is 50cm, Shimano 600 components (all of them) Sakae "Road Champion" handlebars, Sugino Saddle and quick release front and rear wheels (6 Cassettes? on the rear wheel). The wheels are Mavic. There is only one spot for waterbottle on the downtube (not one on the seat tube).
I'm sorry, I don't have a digital camera, and unable to take a picture. I've been unable to get someone to take one for me and my thread was deleted before I could do anything anyhow. I just got the bike from someone else who also knew nothing about it and I don't know that much about bikes to begin with.
If someone can please help...I'd like to get it back as close to looking as original as I can. I dont plan on selling it because it has no serial#, but I would like it to look like it should.

Yes, I remember your original post. If you can't get pics, it's going to take a lot of work on your part. To identify the model, I'm going to need a complete description of the all the braze-ons, lugs, fork crown and dropouts. If we can positively identify the frame, then I'll need a complete list of all the components by make and model. It may take quite a while and lots of correspomdence. You may want to do this via PM.

UPDATE...

I had the bike repainted, and it turns out not to be a Miyata, but a Nishiki. It has Nishiki stamped right in the frame.
