Has anyone ridden in this crazy wind? Where I live in Ontario, the gusts have been up to 70 mph. I haven't been on my bike since last Sunday, I'm dying to ride...

It's been dead calm (relatively speaking) in L.A. for the past few days....

I rode the Santa Ana River Trail this morning from HB to Green River Golf Course and the wind was very strong. It started picking up around the Big A and Honda Center (the Pond) and increased steadily until I got to Imperial when OMFG...it was HORRID! I was in my granny gear, almost being blown off the bike, I was going so slow. Thank goodness I didn't have the computer on to see exactly how slow, not a minute went by that I didn't think about turning around and enjoying the tailwind back...and since I was alone...it was so hard to not do that. I made it all the way to the golf course, slowly...but I did it. Had a nice tailwind for about halfway back then the wind seemed to shift again.

I live at the 15 and 60 freeway. Right now it's blowing really hard. I was hoping to ride tomorrow am, but it doesn't look good. Out here, the sand and rocks can become deadly in a strong gust of wind.
I was thinking about going down towards the beach, but per your post, I'm not sure that's any better.

We're riding tomorrow morning if you want to join us at the crack of dawn. :D Probably a PCH ride.

72miles...great job...I'll bet the new bike was awesome...
I am waiting to hear from Trac on how her upgrades are....

MArk and I took a shot on no warmers, jackets..etc....and it actually was pretty nice...a bit cool...but it warmed up really nicely here...but after our rest stop at the 1/2 way point..we headed up into the canyons above Lake View Terrace....and the wind kicked in....some major gusts almost slowed us down to 0 on these climbs...nice coming down however....then wind on and off the rest of the way back...
I think more winds tomorrow as well they are saying...

I rode the trail today. I spoke with Octico at the Pond. He said he had just seen Brandy on the trail. I rode down to the beach but I gues I missed her.

Incase Octico reads this, just thinking about the 18 mph he wanted to carry today. I tried but no dice. I averaged 18.7 down to the beach with the wind. On the return, I was at 18. down to the soccer fields. By the golf course/stadium section, I was pushing hard and doing 11mph with a 17.4 average. By Lincoln, I was doing 17, so I thought there was hope of bringing it back up.

Kraemer to Imperial, got real windy again. Average dropped to 16.53!...Stupid wind! :D

Was good training though! My legs was a burnin' and for the first time this year, snot involuntarily dropped from my nose!:p

I was wondering if I would run into you Mr. Beanz. I passed Imperial just before 9:30 a.m. and I recalled saying you were starting from there, so I kept an eye out but there was no one on the trail at that point. I ended up just taking the trail to PCH and heading north from there.

Oh yeah, one more thing! I saw a group of BCI riders at the wooden bridge (couple miles from the beach). I saw a woman in the group of about 10 that looked like she might be BCIPam. Just wondering!:D

Not much wind today, but there must be a gang of dust in the air from the wind over the last couple of days.
I was coughing on todays ride, and I'm not the only one!
 <---- me coughing

I live in the same exact area, and the winds have been absolutly horrable... roller time until the wind dies.

My ride was great... my legs were sorta dead so we did the 43 mile route. The wind wasn't bad at all until the last few miles... much better than Wednesday when it ended up being 20 miles of headwinds along the same route  Its really blowing now though...

I didn't have any issues w/the wheels/spokes catching the wind today... although most of the wind was either a tail wind or headwind, not much in the way of crosswinds... so I guess I'll have to ride a bit more before making any judgements.
