Foo - For all you Linux / Unix/ *nix newbies and wot-not

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Wow, I forgot I had all of these books online. Some of the information here is old, but then again, so is *nix ;)
This is a collection of books and resources I have for unix and unix like operating systems... and even winders to some extent. It's mostly online versions of the O'Riley books for Perl, Sed, Awk, Samba, etc.. etc...
I have seen alot of posts lately about Linux and Unix in general and thought I'd offer something more substatial to you guys than my not_so_witty not_so_sober retorts ;)
If one person finds something useful in this stuff then at least this post did some good.

browse and enjoy
if anyone wants to download these books (they are in HTML format) so that they have them locally just ask and I'll tar them up or .zip them or something

Thanks! I just picked up 'Linux for Dummies', Seems like it's right at my level, experienced user that's *inx ignorant. Information without the L33t speak

- i compliment your server on its bandwidth!

- i have all the books you've listed... have to say that of them all, the one i always enjoyed the most was UNIX Power Tools - a remarkable collection of OS tips, tricks, and traps...

- thank you very much for making me remember why i like using free and open-source software!

linux_author you are welcome

well, if no one else is going to download the .tar.gz of these books I'm going to remove it at the end of the day. My $HOME is pretty full on this server and I am cleaning house. I'll still leave up the browseable HTML though.

yeah, I'm a nice guy like that
if you like it that much maybe you can build me a set of those wonderful wheels you built for PoweredByTRD a year or two ago ;)

You know him? I totally forgot about that. Deep V rims laced to XT hubs. Banana yellow rims

yeah, he and I were, what somone referred to us as, the two most famous Clydesdales on BF. I used a different /nick back then though. I took some time off from biking and stopped coming here and it seems he has stopped now too. But those wheels you built held up his 400+lbs of girth great.

It is great to know that they held up, I did sometimes wonder. I was still quite a novice at the time compared to now.

hey, I'm hijacking my own thread, cool
the last I spoke to him... back inAugust or something, those wheels were still on his bike
I don't need massivr wheels anymore though because I am slightly below 300lbs now, I've too much muscle to get down to 225 like I wanted to but oh well
but I still require 36H wheels, too bad I don't have the extra cash to have you build me a set. I was just going to order some prebuilt from bicyclewheels.com, the 36H Rhynolites they have, or get some of those $100.00 weinmann xp2002 wheels I keep seeing here on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-36-SPOKE-DISC-WHEELSET-WITH-TIRES-BARGAIN_W0QQitemZ140058838698QQihZ004QQcategoryZ58089QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem). They would seem to hold up fine for my commute.
Any input on those wheels? I can't find anything about them online.
