I was thinking about how much we benefit from cycling and I came up with a few. How many more can you think of ? We could do this for a while and use it as ammunition when we want to skip doing household tasks and ride.

1. Emotional, I figured marrying my husband was a good idea on the bike.
2. Physical, I lost over 20 pounds in two months.
3. Mental What clears your head better.
4. Aerobic Watch how your heart rate changes during the season.
5. Tolerance to pain is built up. Think of getting off the bike and trying to stand up after the first rides of the season.
6. Cardiovascular My blood pressure always goes down.

How about:

"In corpora sano, mens sana" or "in a healthy body, a healthy mind".

If you feel healthy and fit, you feel better about yourself all around and that is also good for those around you.

I saw this expressed nicely on a bumper sticker the other day. It said, "If Mom is not happy .... then nobody in the house is happy".

So hand your husband the laundry, mumble a little Latin, and hit the road.

Bluestreak2,
I must agree. Since I have been back on the bike I am much happier. Stress is almost eliminated. My wife doesn't seem to mind my riding since I am in such a better mood and state of mind. If I come home from work grumpy she tells me to go for a ride even on my two off days. Oh ya and the fact that I went from 230 lbs to 205 lbs and I'm still loosing.

I miss Indiana. The hills are much better out here. :D

Here are a few more:

Emotional - Life doesn't seem so hard after a ride

Psychological - Problem solving is much easier on a bike

Nutritionally - Having a salad instead of McDonald's post ride

Psychological - NEW FRIENDS and new sites to see

Physical - Housework and errands don't tire you out as fast

You sleep better as you become more fit

Very true about the sleep part (and the other parts too)- as soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm down for the count!

Sleeping is one of the best parts. I fall right into a deep sleep now and feel great when I wake up. No more rolling out of bed now I just pop up and jump in the shower. My wife also says I have almost completely stopped snoring.
