i moved to springfield vt about a year ago, and i'm hurting to find some places to ride off road. any ideas around this area? i know there is a place in grafton, but you have to pay to ride the trails. the closest shop is in claremont nh and they weren't much help at all. all i can find is the resevoir in north springfield, not many trails, most are short, just some dirt roads. i'd ideally like something within a 10-20 minute drive. perhaps chester or bellows falls or charlestown nh? somebody help me, i need some trail riding!!!

Have you given the guys at West Hill bike shop in putney a call. they do all sorts of group rides and even have cross course there. They are right off 91. good guys and get a thums up from every one I know who shops there.

from bikerag.com. Also have you tried just searching? I'm sure there is great stuff out there the locals may not be willing to just tell you about. Try going on some group rides and getting to know the locals.

thanks for the replies, but still no luck finding trails. i'll have to check out the shop in putney when i'm down that way, it's like 30-40 minutes away. bikerag.com had nothing in my area. i'd love to find some local riders, haven't come across any yet. i even tried the website for vt mba, no help there. i asked at the bike shop in ludlow, they were clueless to trails around springfield. i'd go on some group rides and get friendly with the locals, but there are NONE! seriously, i think i am the only person who rides in this town! i've tried driving up and down all of the dirt roads, and everything is posted. the vermont snowmobile trail (whatever it is called) goes near my house, but apparently you can only use the trail in the winter on a snowmobile if you are a registered member. i'd pay for a membership if they'd let me bike it, but they won't. and i've tried searching online for everything related, biking, hiking, etc., with no luck. somebody must be able to help me out!
and 'timahhhhh', wtf is that all about? be cool man, i'm trying. don't call me stupid, you find me some info if you think it is so easy. maybe then i won't be offended.
