I used to be a cat 2 on the road, only road pursuit events on the track, and I want to get on the track in Ft Lauderdale, FL, which is close to Miami. I would like to try some sprint events, not pursuit or kilo.
I'm thinking of getting a new track bike and beyond Bikesdirect.com has a Windsor for $300 and a Moto for a little more. Both 4130 cromoly.
Are these bikes any good? Should I get a good used bike instead? Any ideas would be welcome.

This is covered alot but Ill give a Clift Note
version of my 347.00 Mercier TT........
The best / funnest value in a bike I have ever
purchased new. The Mercier is a KHS and the
Windsor is a Fuji Track. You cant go wrong if
you are aware of what you are getting. I ride
mine hard, re-geared to 46x17 on crappo VT farm
roads every day and have only tightened the spokes.
I  this bike !!

there is this guy down at the hellyer velodrome who rides a windsor hour and KILLS it on everything! I'm pretty sure he hasn't upgraded anything except he switched out for clipless pedals. I guess it just goes to show that it doesn't matter what kind of equipment you have it all matters how good you are. Seriously this guy is soooo fast. So if you don't want to spend a lot I'd say go for it, it seems to work well for him.
good luck
