Today I traveled 40+ miles by car to go to an area that I've wanted to bike all summer but never got aroiund to it. I took a bike that I borrowed off my boss. He originally told me he wanted to sell this bike, but then changed his mind. I thought I'd take it for a spin before I returned it to him. In my haste to get going after returning from church, I neglected to check air pressures in the tires. When I got up there, I discovered I was down to the rim on the rear tire. Thankfully, I had a CO2 cartridge and an inflator in the car. But, it makes me mad that I had to burn an inflator on a bike that wasn't even mine after driving over 40 miles. Then, I found out that there was a lot more to this place I went to than just a circle around the swamp, as the map shows. There are poorly marked trails all over the place. I rode only 6 miles total because I was afraid of getting lost. I should have just stuck to my own rail/trails close to home. Oh, and another thing..... this bike had a "tail" hanging out on the front derailleur cable that my right foot rubbed on with each pedal stroke. Irritating as all get out. So - live and learn, I guess. I'm done whining now.....thanks for listening.
