Commuting - Report Bike Lane violators!!
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Here is a website a friend just sent to me.

That would be a great idea if anything were done about it besides just having the offenders listed there. I don't see myself taking the time to report someone if all that happens is a report is created. I suppose that you could use this to make a case against a habitual offender, however.

I have one car that's been parked in my bike lane for well over a week. There was even a tow sticker placed on the vehicle, which was later torn off. The vehicle still hasn't moved (It's now in a snow bank because the plows had to plow around it.)

I just keep moving.
during my lunch hour today, I witnessed a motorcycle (crotch rocket) sitting at a red light in the "bike" lane. I didn't know whether to pass judgement on him as an a-hole or just real dim.

The plan is to use this site to both document problem areas in the city, and as a resource to forward on to local governments and media w/ the real goal of exposing the problem. It is easy for the city to say that their is not a big problem, but when they see a map w/ hundreds of incidents every day, hard for them to pretend their is not a problem. Especially in NYC where the city is making a big deal (recently) about adding on to the bike lane network as part of looking out for cyclists.
The "doing something" to the violator is not really realistic (other than the public shame ... of which I doubt most drivers will be looking there to ever see).
I am currently also working w/ local advocacy groups in NYC on other related problems, but w/ the ultimate goal of making things better/safer/more convenient for cyclists and pedestrians.
