I'm builing up a cross bike, and I'm using Hayes MX2 mech discs. The only problem is that the disk doesn't seem to line up properly. It fits into the slot and all, but the pad that does the pushing is rubbing on the disc, even when released completely. There doesn't seem to be any sort of float adjustment. Would filing down the inside of the frame where it attaches to the brake be an option? Or would there be an easier way? Thanks.

Thanks. if that is the problem, it would be best to bring it to the shop to have the tabs faced. this can remove as much material, or as little, as you desire

I would doublecheck EVERYTHING carefully (like your installation instructions), be positive you have the right adapter, etc. before you begin carving on your frame. In fact, if you've triple-checked everything and you've determined that metal has to be removed, I'd pick on the adapter before I took material away on the frame. If you don't need much, your drill press set at its limit stops and a little square-cut end-mill burr for a Dremel tool makes a nice little makeshift 'milling machine.'
