HI i am a college student from Minnesota and i am really interested in starting to ride. I don't have a bike or any equipment, and honestly don't know were to start. I am very serious about starting to bike and really excited to learn more about it. If anyone has any information about picking out a bike, and other general getting started stuff please let me know!!!

That's pretty open ended. What do you want to use the bike for (commuting, mountain biking, road riding, touring, etc.)? You can exercise on any bike, but bikes are like cars, you need to pick one for the job you want it to do. After that, hit every LBS near you, try every bike you want, then get the one that's the most comfortable that you can afford. Good luck!

Seeing that she is a college student, (assuming she is not a troll) I would think commuting would be the best bet. Check the commuting subforum for more info on commuters. Or any other subforum (depending on your biking style).

Whoops I misread your name cause there was another person who just joined named michelle and I just noticed the M and didn't read the whole name :D my bad. As for road bike to work out on, no idea. I have my road bike (Puch Superleicht) and I don't push it hard or anything. More like cruising. Good luck.
EDIT: O yea try posting here (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=41) for the road advice.
