Need a new BB and I'm thinking either the Truvativ Gigapipe Team DH or the Race Face Evolve FR. I have ran MANY gigapipes but have never been impress with them. I usually have to replace my gigapipe AT LEAST every season do to the bearings wearing out, the entire BB snapping in two, or because they developed some wobble in them. I have not yet tried a Race Face because over all truvativ BBs are getting better reviews, but not by much.

Does anyone have any input here?

Personally I absolutely hate ISIS and hope to never have to worry about another ISIS bottom bracket. If possible I would just buy a new crankset with the integrated bottom bracket. Those things are just so reliable.

Neither. Swap to some outboard bearing cranks. ISIS is a flawed system, with very small bearings.

Sure, a whole new crank/bb set is a bit spendier. But it'll be cheaper in the long run vs. continuing to buy and destroy ISIS bbs.

Best bang for buck in the outboard setup seems to be the Shimano LX stuff.

If you want to stay with ISIS here are my options:

1) try the Raceface. My cross bike came with a Truvativ ISIS, it died in 2 months. I replaced it with a Raceface SRX and it has been fine for almost two years now.

2) if you want to spend more $ search out an SKF ISIS, I've heard nothing but good things about them. Still have yet to see one post on any site of someone who has killed one, even on Singletrackworld.com, the brits are very hard on BB's in their wet climate.

I really wish I could switch over to some outboard bearings but I just bought my holzfellers at the start of the season. I was running the new holzfeller Howitzer set up on my SXT before she sold, and those ran like a champ. So anyway I have to stick it out will these cranks for at least one more season. I guess I'll give RF a try, but that means a need to buy another tool.:(;)
