Commuting - When the plain o'l balaclava won't do.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Oh god, I'd love to get one of these just for kicks. Funny thoughts have passed the head from laughing bank tellers if some idiot was to rob a bank with one or walking down the street and the kids freaking out or while riding you turn left and the cager gives you a freaked out scare face.
Ahh......

How about fixing that link? It would not connect for me. Did it feature some sort of re-breather mask that warms and moistens the incoming air?

I'm not totally decided yet on whether motorists would pester you more or less with one of these on
Hmm

I'm sure if you had a hoodie on while riding with your reflecto gear and turned to the motorist they'd wigout. I laughed hard when I saw those but also kind of scared ifI saw someone wearing one.
Ken:
http://tinyurl.com/6e5cs See if this link works. It's the same link but just tinyurl'ed it to see if it'll work. Everyone else is seeing it ok.

Nope. These are ski masks. Without saying anymore then that or it'll just be a spoiler. It's a need to see to enjoy it.

Man, I get looks just for being out there in the cold as it is. If I had one of those on, cars would veer off into trees.

Um? those are even too weird for me. Give me one of those wacky looking helmet covers with all the spikes another forum member wears.
Okay, these masks are proof that even Suzy Homemaker did lots of LSD back in the 1960s. No wonder so many people in their early 40s are now in therapy, after having to wear those!
They did a lot of drugs in the 60's.
They smoked a lot too.
I can think of no other explanation.
Great gift idea.
I must have one. "Honey, you like to knit don't you . . . "

All of you who are a'skeert'd of those masks--You should wear one--it'll terrify and drive off those cars while you are cycling in a mask!

Last year, one of my kids needed a balaclava for a project. Since mine cost $2 at walmart, they used it. What my wife did was use the balaclava as the basis for a skunk mask for a play. She sewed on a nose, a white stripe down the top/back and put on ears too.
Come winter it was the next school year and they didn't need it anymore, and I still had not replaced it. So, for a few weeks until I undid the stitching, I was a skunk every morning on my way to work!

Ok, need some web ninjas to help me out here. I can't seem to find that ski mask pattern. I figure some folks can help double/triple the search effort. I for one would want one of those ski masks just for the occasional ride. The reactions would be priceless. :D
Also wondering if anyone knows anyone that knits and such. How much would that charge to make one? I'm sure if someone knitts a lot they could improvise without a pattern based on what they see and can come up with a similar product. Kinda like how if you go to a barber with a frontal image of the hair style you want without back and side shots the barber knows to a degree from experience how to replicate the same results as close as possible.
This might be the bikers 'collect them all' series. :) I know I'd freak out if some ugy wore the little girl mask.

I bet you could find the 1965 issues at a large public library. I just checked and our little library only has years 1998-2001. Wikipedia says it was bought by Rosie O'Donnell in 2001 who killed it.

I wear an old paint ball mask with yellow fangs taped on the face plate. Give the cagers and eye with that and it's worth an extra foot of space as they go by.
