Foo - Zombies?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I know this guy, who is absolutely, totally, and completely terrified of zombies. He's 24 years old or so. Some people have an elaborate fire escape plan somewhere in their house, and go over it regularly? He has a zombie attack plan, which includes a stash of guns and tons of ammo.
Merely mentioning zombies increases his pulse and makes his palms sweat. He can't watch horror movies that feature zombies.
I sent him a link to this article, which isn't even really about zombies, and he totally lost it.

Anyone else have stories of completely irrational phobias?

Zombies may be real, but not the kind who move fast and want to eat your brains.

Zombies are, indeed, real. Your friend will, indeed, have the last laugh when The End comes... indeed...
make no mistake, I have shotguns and plenty of ammo. And I could put a hurtin' on the zombie population, should it ever arise.
I just think the chances of a burglar coming into my place, or a war on home soil are more probable disasters that would require that kind of force. And I think getting hit by 3 sequential lightning strikes, basketball-sized hail and a tsunami all from the same storm are more likely than a zombie infestation. By the way, I live in Kansas.

N3wbs. Relying on guns. Old School neva runs outa ammo! :D
That's why 24 x 7 businesses have locks on the doors; to keep the zombies out.
Your friend is just following a long held tradition of undead defense strategies.

Yea sure uh huh a friend oookay. It's okay ax0n to be afraid of zombies. Now tell us when did you first start fearing zombies?
(FYI, Mine is hypodermic needles, but at least hypodermic needles are real)
Everyone knows that the world's supply of hypodermic needles comes from Zombiecorp., LLC. Each injection you receive during your lifetime brings you one step closer to the realm of the undead.

Actually he's on another forum, and most of his posts are in a forum that you need to be a member to see. I'm an admin on that forum (not a moderator) and about 4 months ago I found out about this fear of zombies he has. For halloween I actually added a zombie smiley that seems to say "Braaaaaaaaains" over and over again. He officially hates me now.

Re phobia's, check out this one!
Hm, shotgun ammo is too heavy to lug around in a zombie situation. I'd want nothing more than an automatic rifle should a zombie event occur.
Then again, there's always this....

Oh, god, thank you. My brother and I were running through childhood movies I need to put on my Netflix. Krull was the only one I forgot.
Oh, and Megaforce, but Netflix is apparently too good for that masterpiece...
Oh, and Ice Pirates wasn't as funny and totally awesome as 8 year old me says it was...
Don't forget Neverending Story, Dark Crystal, Legend, and Labrynth

I got the first three on there. I can't remember much of Labrynth but I'll put it on there to see if it sparks any memories.

The Zombie survival guide is remarkably well presented. I stil have issues with its decision on armour though. Some lightweight lycra/kevlar mix will teethproof you nicely.
But that's no substitute for not getting caught in the first place. Swords and Mossbergs, ladies and gentlemen. Swords and Mossbergs.

I thought his issue w/ "assault rifles" was a little flawed. He was only taking into account full auto. You can get an AK-74 at any gun show that shoots a 5.56m round in semi-auto only w/ a 30 round clip. That'd be a hell of a lot more handy than a 22 or any bolt action or limited capacity semi-auto. The Mossberg would be nice, especially in a panic situation where you can't really take the time to make a clear headshot, but the ammo is bulky and range is way too limited. I'd rather not be any closer than 100 yards from my zombie target. And I agree on the sword, though I'd prefer a large bola knife, personally.

Silly guy, all he needs is a vacuum sealer and some fresh brains....vac-pak it and pull them out when to keep zombies occupied.
Better yet, keep some and a bottle of dom around to romance the hot ones.

But the brain's already dead! What if the person was originally killed by a headshot before becoming a zombie, what then?
Incinerator?
You saw what that results in, in Return of the Living Dead.

I asked my boss today if we'd ever get a spacecraft to Mars, she said she thought Jesus would come back first. Fear of zombies is no less rational than the beliefs in angels, demons and vengeful deities a great deal of your friends, co-workers and politicians have, it's just not as commonplace. Belief in things that don't exist, and the urge to kill or be killed for those things, is probably why most of the planet is a hell-hole right now, so an innocent zombie phobia is actually kind of endearing, in comparison.
Zombies fall into the same category as the Boogie Man, the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

So you're saying they are all real and that most of them will sneak into your house and leave you stuff? Cool. I am going to go write a letter to the Zombie King right now and tell him how good I have been this year.

Most likely. You should keep her locked up in the basement, just to be sure.
Today I feel like a zombie. Left work usually late yesterday due to meetings and being here now feels like I never left. :)

We live in Dallas. We have no basements. Can I just dig a hole and leave her in it?

And if she is a zombie, she would pay you back by eating your brain. Coffee and brain muffin, how healthy is that?

Oh come on. She's your wife. What do you value more? Just chain her down to the beams and put up a lot of plastic sheeting.
