Mountain Biking - bike comparison

Hey guys,
Im new and have been searching for a new bike. Im pretty good at riding, but have never gone into the mountain biking area, just previous bmx experience. I have been looking for and inexpensive bike and have thought about getting one of these. Do you guys prefer any one of them, or any at all? if not do you have any other suggestions around the same price range.

I have looked at the-
Ibex ignition 2 ( but from what i've read it may be a heavy bike).
k2 attack 1.0 SE 2006 model

What do you guys think?

didn't you know that Hardrocks are absolutely the best bike ever made for any type of riding.....road, XC, Freeriding, downhill, dirt jump, urban stunt.....you name it......so no matter what type riding you are doing you NEED a hardrock....the other option is you must get a hardrock....

to simply answer your question without any additional information, I would say both those bikes are very similar. IBEX has a touch better components (fork, brakes, etc) and the K2 probably has a better Frame (and thats an wild assumption. cause at a certain price point manufacturer provide value in one area and cut cost in other. So, at a certain price point....One bike may give you a good frame and cheap components.....and the other bike may give you a cheap frame and some good components). so, you have to decide what is more important for you. For me, Frame is the post inportant thing, cuase a good frame will allow me to upgrade, if and when I need it. The second and third priorities would be Fork and breaks....

My view:

At this price range I would not get a full suspension. Instead I would get a quality Hardtail (with front suspension) with a good frame, fork, brakes, and a decent drivetrain.

But, if you absolutely want a dual suspension, you may have to spend a little more, cause full suspensions get half way decent around $1000+ price range.....I like Kona Kikapu (http://www.konaworld.com/bikes/2k7/KIKAPU/index.html) or Iron Horse MKIII (http://www.rscycle.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8059/.f?sc=7&category=55)

wow....this is a sweet deal...hard to beat if you really want a dual suspension bike...
