Are there mid-priced cross forks out there? I'm aware of cheap ones (generic steel) and susper lux ones (Alpha-Q, etc.), but are there middle-o-the-road ones?

Who makes 'em?

Independent Fabrication makes some really nice steel cross forks. I see them on ebay sometimes for about $100 but I'm not sure how much they are new.

I've always liked the Kona Project II. It is fairly cheap, but a fairly good fork for the money. It is durable, tracks well, seems to absorb bumps well too. This may be a bit lower in spec than you were looking for, but thought I'd throw it in as a choice.

I have a Surly Cross-check fork on my Airborne. I don't know how it would be for cyclocross, but I like it a lot for commuting and extended road riding. Cheap, too, and lugged, so it's cool-looking.
