In preprartion for snowy commutes this winter I changed out my treking bars for the original straight (riser) bars my MTB came with. It was a funky commute this morning. I felt like I had precision control of my steed, every bump in the road translated immediately to my hands. But with the additional control I was also very uncomfortable. My hands seem to really like the "trucker" posiition that the treking bars gave. But I found that the setup as a whole hampered my manuverability in tight/slippery situations.

So this is one trekking bar convert who will be back on the straight bars (maybe with some bar ends put on this weekend) for the winter weather.

I told the wife this is just another reason I neeeed a winter bike. She did this:  Then asked how much I was saving by biking and did this: :D
