Day 37 Te Anau, preparing walk, 0 km

After Stewart Island, i had another track in mind, not the popular ones like the Milford or the Routeburn, wich are very overcrowed, but i went for a more quiet one; the Dusky track.

Its an 8 days track, 84 km, fully self supported, three valleys, two mountainranges (yes this is from the brochure :p )

First i had to rent a backpack, i never walk with my BOB bag again after St. Isl.
I found a pack for 10 days a 50 $.
After that i had to rent a sattelite beacon, i`m very well prepared for the conditions, but if you walk on your own and brake a leg, there`s nobody who`s going to help you, so 45 $ is a pretty cheap insurrance...

After that i had to sort out the food, because of the fast weather changes and maybe a restday, i decided to buy food for 10 days.
Well i left the supermarket with 5 bags of food wich in no way could fit in my backpack...:D
The rest of the i spend preparing and making packets of food, my bus was leaving the next day 8:15 in the morning, so i had to get up early to store the rest of my stuff and tent.
I stored my cycle in a garage of the campground, my tent and bag had to be stored in the locker room, so the gear was pretty safe.

It always gives a better feeling when your cycle is stored securely...

cheers
