Go to Routeslip.com (http://www.routeslip.com) or the route-mapping site of your choice and link us to your favorite training route!
I'm interested to see where you "SoCal"ers ride, and how often.
Anyway, here's mine (http://routeslip.com/map.php?map=15985). I try to do this loop/out-n-back once or twice during the week. Sat/Sun I do club rides.
I'm too lazy to routeslip it, but on Monday/Wednesday Tiff and I do a training ride (usually 25-30 miles) at 10:00 a.m. leaving from Murdy park in HB. We have two hours while the kids are in preschool and we usually head to PCH and go north or south depending on our mood.
Other than that, it's lots of PCH rides, usually down to Main Beach in Laguna with Newport Coast and Back Bay thrown in on the way back. I'm sure it will be changing as I ramp up my training to get more miles in.

I don't really "train", but here's my route: http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=15989
Flat with lots of straights, good for sprinting.

The three routes I did training up for the PIE ride.

There's mine. The majority is long open flat roads (van buren/mission) with a nice hill climb right in the middle (Mt. Rubidoux). :)

Here's the Mt. Palomar climb I did pre-PIE a couple of times...but never did the whole thing. Wussed out before the top.

This is my lunch route I bang out in 55-65 minutes elapsed time pending on how many red lights I get caught at. http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=13718
here is my MTB route I sprint up http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=13722
Here is the loop I used to do ever now and then when I'm in the mood. Its pretty fast loop til I get to Fallbrook and the 15. I stop by my dad's in Oceanside and refill all my stuff there.

i don't train... i just ride.... training takes the fun out of cycling! lol! one of my fave rides is, of course, riding into the park either to jumbo rocks, or ryan trailhead or to key's view!
for moutain biking.... i like the goat trails... one of these days i WILL ride to the top of the first hill in! one of these days...... (one of these years?)

I don't train either, I just ride as fast as I can and try to maintain that pace w/o blowing up:D oh and I don't have a speedo on my bikes so I never know how fast I'm going either.

For pure "training" rides, I do the Griffith Park Loop and intervals on the bike path there. I can easily blow 2 hours on that, but it's tough (the intervals anyway) and boring! I always prefer (like Cali) to just go on rides with varried terrains.

Usually on Wed & Thurs afternoons I ride out to Griffith Park, loop around and up to the observatory and back to my house.
On Saturdays when I'm not doing one of our BF rides, I normally do the Montrose training ride.
But like some others have mentioned, these are just 'rides' for me, as I am really not 'training' for anything. :)

When I training for rides with lots of big climbs, I like to go up to Mt. Pinos and do climbing repeats. There is a spot to park at the turn-off to Pine Mountain Club. From that point to the top is 8.5 miles with 2300 + feet of climbing. We usually climb it 3-5 times depending upon time available & upcoming rides. The whole ride is in the pines trees, very scenic and virtually no cars. Each time climbing, maybe 2-3 cars may pass going uphill. Going downhill, with all the curves in the road, you are usually descending as fast if not faster than traffic would be going.
I think this is great idea....post your routes.
However....a routeslip is pretty useless, unless there is a printable routeslip with turns!!!
If you create a routeslip..please, please, please list the turns and such so there is a printable slip that someone else can follow!
During the fall/winter I am stuck usually doing club rides on the weekend but during the summer I have two basic training rides - the hilly ride and the flat/fast ride.
The hilly ride goes into North Tustin up Skyline, to Cowan Heights to Newport Blvd. up Newport to Santiago, Santiago to Jamboree and back down to Portola, take a left got to Sand Canyon and then turn around back home. If feeling good once I hit Newport I go left to Crawford Canyon which turns into Canon. I usually take Canon to Santiago to Windes Rd./Meads to Amapola, to Chapman, to Jamboree. Actually there are lots of options. I also like riding up to Lower Peters Canyon and taking the bike path to Lemon Heights and then connecting with Skyline. Or off Cowan I turn right and do Overhill (total killer climbs)
The Flat/Fast ride is down to Harvard, San Diego Creek trail to Back Bay west to Back Bay east, and back up University and then home.
I stopped doing the Loop ride on a regular basis. Don't like doing it alone. Just too much crazy traffic.
My MTB training ride is usually Lower Peter Canyon to Irvine Park, around the Park into Weir Canyon, over to Santiago Oaks, back to Irvine, back over to Peters, do the Lake Loop and then back home.
What? We have to start training now

I'm new to the area but I'll ride this in the morning early before work.
http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=2465
On Saturdays I'll be back to riding this with an additional 15 miles:
http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=208
I also plan on adding this to my week.
http://www.routeslip.com/map.php?map=279
I've just now gotten my cool weather gear and will begin training in earnest again. I'm a new dad so I've been out of comission for 5 months. I plan on riding the Hemet century as my first century and then adding more events througout the year.
Hope I get to wave to a few of you out there....

I think Routeslip.com is great site. One of the feature that I realy like is an ability to add another users routes to my own, its called Paceline.
Here is a user which I added to my pace line and he has some great routes. Dont know if he is a member on Bikeforums if yes, then thanks for some great routes:
majenkin (http://routeslip.com/routelist.php?user=371)
This is my route to and from Rose Bowl:
http://routeslip.com/map.php?map=12101
I also like to use Motionbased with my Garmin. I upload almost all of my rides then check and see how well I did compared to the last time I rode. There are millions of users on Motionbased and a huge searchable archive of various rides. The site uses Google maps to display route info. Unfortunatly, none of the rides have a true turn by turn route slip. As an example here is my last Saturday ride in Oak Park. It was realy windy on that day with wind gusts of over 25 mi per hour.

heres the route i take whenever i go out.
I know alot of you guys are up in LA but if you are looking for OC routes, if you go to bikeirvine.com (the BCI website), check rides, look at rides for either Saturday or Sunday, click the date, routes slips for those rides are available. I understand all the route slips are located on the database somewhere but I've never been able to find them. Anyway a great way to supplement OC rides.

You need to pick a day of the week to see the route slips.

I ride Santiago Canyon as part of a loop, which is literally a block from my front door. Having a good loop near me makes it hard for me to be motivated to drive somewhere for a group ride. (Well, maybe having a 15 month old has something to do with it also.) I put together a webpage about the loop, long before I heard of routeslip.com.
http://www.briandesousa.com/bicycling/road/santiagocyn.htm
If I want to do something shorter, sometimes I'll just do an out-and-back through Santiago Canyon, or an out-and-back via Santiago Canyon and Silverado Canyon.

I love riding through Santiago Cyn. Just did it yesterday. I really enjoy the "TdSS Stage 1" route. :)

Hey, anyone remember what it was like before they put the toll road through? Starting from Jamboree, there used to be one climb, then a dip, and then another climb to the old landfill. They leveled one of the climbs to put in the toll road, so now it's one less steep climb to the old landfill instead of two steeper climbs. Just reminiscing....
Yeah Brian - I liked the Loop before the toll road. Seemed like less traffic. I can remember when I would ride out there and never see a car. It was hte road less taken now it's a major thoroughfare so I've stopped riding out there less and less.
It's still a pretty road to do and I guess I'll gte myself out there again. No better training for mileage and hills.

My route. My track is the far left one.:D It takes me around 2 hours to do 4 miles but it's all worth it.
