I have a 1990 schwinn world sport with resistance stem shifters and a suntour XCM rear deraileur, with a cage that flops around too much. i recently came across two deals. A suntour cyclone 7000 in great condition and a Shimano 105. im interested in both to replace my beat up deraileur.

which will work?

loved my dads Campy. nice and sturdy.

Either one should work since you have friction shifters. If your bike does not have an intergal deraileur hanger, get a deraileur with an adapter claw.

That's one of the numerous benefits of nonindexed shifting.

integral derailer means the derailer screws right to the frame. If the frame dosent have the screw hole for the derailer then you need the hanger piece, it is a flat piece of steel that the derailer screws on to and then that piece fits into or onto the frame where the rear axle goes. your current derailer should have one it it needs it, just reuse that.
indexed shifters click when you move them. friction just move smooth.
