Does everything where out at the same time?

The pedals on my Mtb are ready to be replaced and I am thinking about going with Shimano Pd-545. Has anyone have any experience with this pedal or could recommend a better one?

Thanks always,
Gordon p

I like my 959's. Very easy to clip in/out, and shed mud very well.

If you are looking at 545's you could also look at Time Z's
They do not have the cleat tension affecting the "pull out" I find this more favourable. but they are much more money, probobly twice the cost.

I was at my LBS today and they had a pair of Crank Brothers Eggbeaters on sale for $110 Cdn. I read somewhere that they are good, anyone have any knowledge or experience with these pedals? Also, the PD-545 is platformed, so my choice now is the PD-515, any info on these would be appreciated.

The 515's are a good entry level pedal. They have good adjustability for the tension. One down fall to them is mud. I never noticed it much until yesterday. Its not usually muddy where I ride, but yesterday was a different story. They do clog up and can be difficult to get clipped in. If your out for a nice ride, its not a big deal, but a racer wouldnt be happy as it would cost them time. Once the mud dries in them, they are a bear to clean too. I dont consider it much of a down fall to the pedal though. I have 2 sets of them and really do enjoy them. They really are an inexpensive pedal. I have seen them online for between 30 and 40 american. If you do ride in a muddy area, I dont think there is anything that would work as well as the eggbeaters.
Hope this helps.

I'm guessing at the price range slightly, since I'm going by US prices, some choices I would suggest looking at. The egg beaters they have ALOT of loyal followers and are a very good pedal, the Time Z-pedal aluminum model is about same cost possibly less.. Shimano 515 is a good choice. Biggest advantage of the shimano you can adjust the tension, but sheds mud poorly. The Time pedal sheds mud very well, but has no tension and more float. The Egg beatesr you can clip in on 4 sides, sheds mud well only real drawback is the small platform which can cause problems for some people.

I dunno what they're called, but I like the ones that came with my bike: clipless on one side, and platform on the other. I don't have shoes yet, but when I get a pair, I'll prolly keep these pedals.
