Hi guys and gals.

I've been lurking around here for the past few months and I have to say that this has got to be the most informative place I've seen. I've just started riding again after a very long 13 year break. I used to be in the military and ride around the base perimeter 3 times a week, about 8 miles. After I left I've been pretty inactive after I discovered the wonders of computers and its games :D . I gained approx. 40 lbs of blubber :( and I have no idea how to lose it because of a recent back injury. Can't run, can't lift weights. What is a guy to do?

Until one day a coworker of mine asked me to accompany him to a local LBS and and thats when I caught the bike bug again. All those shiny new toys :D . I bought me a GF Marlin just this August and I've been riding at least 3 times a week to work and going on trail rides within Black Diamond Mines in Antioch, CA. I still cant pedal up most those hills, hence my name :). Then last month I picked up a very well preserved(read hardly used) '84 Centurion Accordo RS road bike from my boss for $50. I have since substituted that for the Marlin for my commute.

Thanks for the great read(s). I've picked up a lot from you guys and hopefully I'll be contributing my own very soon. Peace.

Hello mtnwalker, you have obviously been taking a tour of BF, so you know what we're about.

We expect to see photos of the Accordo in Classic & Vintage, please. A number of the C & V regulars are from the Bay Area...

Welcome to BF!

Welcome, mtnwalker. Glad you finally signed up. Please feel free to post a picture of your commuter bike in the commuting forum. I am sure everyone would like to see it.

We're quite fortunate to be in the SFO Bay Area to have more riding days in a year than most places. Enjoy your new ride.
