Thanks for the post! I was about to call Hope today to order a seatclamp, but felt they might laugh at me... Maybe I'll add some brakes to that order :)

Hope was using that rotor design way before shimano.

Next year if I'm a good boy, i will get a new set of brakes. The new Minis look hot and from what I've read they do what they're supposed to (bonus!).

shimano dont do vented rotors. they do floating rotors where the braking surface is carried by an alloy/carbon spider.

hope are the 1st to do vented rotors, Heres a picture off CRC in the UK (http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=16364) - 2 braking surfaces with space between them, = more surface area for cooling. this extra cooling is just what's needed on long downhill runs, although its overkill for any riding we have here in the UK.

Speak for yourself on the vented rotors- Had the 200mm conventional disc's glowing on the Tandem last year on a big descent.

I am Pee'ed off. Just bought a new USE Exposure lamp and Hope have bought out a new mount for their HID, that does not require the special stem at £50 that I would have to fit on 2 bikes. With the conventional fitting- it is probably the cheapest performance Lamp in the UK. They are also doing a Twin Luxion that may be as good as the USE.

As to those brakes---- If they are better than my Hope Mono M4's- then They are going to be good.

Other companies were doing that before Shimano as well......

Shimano has a long history of not exactly inventing new stuff, but taking up another design from somewhere else, then refining/changing things to get around the patent(s). They have also at times just waited until a patent ran out, then did nearly the same design.

hehe, tandem use, that one haddnt occured to me, the new moto's would be suited to that too!

yeah the lights have been out a few months now, im looked at them a few times, but i dont have the fundage this close to crimbo hehe

I find it interesting that they're going to a single piston design - please take note, all those folks who erroneously assume that a higher piston count automatically equals more power.

I love the new mini's, especially its rotor, its caliper and lever is okay for me, very interesting design, but I totally dislike the silver colour.

Mono M4's are good but look at the new Hope Brakes.I know Hope and the quality they give. I ride a bike that pushes all parts to the extreme and if Hope Headset- Hubs and Brakes work on this thing then they are good enough for Normal riders.

I do use the Mono M4's on the T but this new form of the brakes have a couple of Innovations on them that will improve on them. And yes- This T is used aggressively offroad. Attachment is of a 100mile offroad taken earlier this year.

I plan on buying many hope products for my bike over the next year or so. Probably just about every product they make to be honest. Next purchase is their headset.
