I not know if LA is ready but with the race ending with a climb this year he should have a good chance. Axe Merckx is my darkhorse pick. :confused:

Go to Lancearmstrong.com. On reading that I got the impression that LA thinks he has a h*** of a chance to win.:beer:

Bob Roll mentioned Dario Frigo, which I thought made some sense. But then I wouldn't doubt LA, he seems to want this race.

Scratch that, it made some sense, except that he's not on the start list....

Boogerd, of course, is super-motivated and can win on a tough uphill finish.

What about some longer shots though? Such as Vinokourov or Rebellin? Then there are the CSC boys, Sastre and Hamilton...

And VDB is itching to win a race...

So many choices.

It is hard to imagine the finish, with or without the Cauberg, not involving Armstrong. Same goes for Boogerd.

I like easyrider's inclusion of Rebellin and Vandenbroucke as notables. When VDB won Liege in 1999, his build-up was quite similar (2nd to PVP in Flanders). Amstel now has a little-Liege finishing feel to it which suits both riders perfectly.

I would further add Di Luca and Bartoli as riders capable of doing something special, but Rabobank in Holland makes Boogerd the man to beat.

If only Andrei Tchmil were still around to have a go at this...

I'm wondering if you meant my site, fantasybikerace.com, as I have a Gino from Illinois that is a member. If that is you, you are in a pool for people who joined after Milan-San Remo. We made a special pool for those folks so they wouldn't start out way behind everybody else. Unfortunately, that pool has also had less people actually select riders for events.

Our other pools are full and more active. Alas, I agree that it is hard to wait for the Grand Tours. I think that we will have some great competition among people who really seem to know their world class cycling.

If you did intend my site, as I suspect since FantasyCycling.com is a "dead link", thanks for the plug.

Easyrider, yes that is me and I sincerely apologize for the mistake. I should have double- checked the name before I hastily posted. You have a great website. I love it. Keep up the good work. I am going to go with an underdog.. Vandenbroucke has the emotional incentive to want to prove something. His determentation to change the past year, will cause him to pull out ahead.. Boogerd will be my next choice.

I actually picked Boogerd, Rebellin, Armstrong. I wasn't too far off. I knew armstrong wouldn't win but I thought he'd make the podium. And Rebellin was 4th!
