Disclaimer: No, I haven't ridden the bike yet. But I will, maybe later today.

Alright, so I've been perusing craigslist, and I found an 05 Fuji cross comp for sale- 725 dollars.

The reviews I've read are mixed. One said that the 04 had much better geometry. Thoughts?

How about the Raleigh RX1.0?
Picked it up in late Sept and got about 150mi so far. darn snow! my neighbor keeps telling me that I can get studded tires on it.

I picked up this new for about $800 at Performance on sale. If you're paying $725 for a version, it's probably priced too high.

BTW, it's a nice bike, but the rims are somewhat soft and go out of true on a regular basis. I'd look for better wheels.

I heard the framset on the Raleigh is garbage, which is why they slapped on a great fork. Compensation. For the money I think you might as well bump up to the Kona JTS
